SOE auto banning system - how does it work?

Hi guys,

while playing tonight one of my outfit mates got banned. We were on teamspeak when it happened and he was quite surprised by that, not to mention quite unhappy since he had just returned to the game after a three week hiatus.

He wasn't cheating or doing anything out of the ordinary, but he had reported having the spawn point out of bounds message bugging out on him (it was still playing even though he was a long way off from any spawn point) he had to re-spawn to get it to stop, and was booted a short while after.

Anyways long story short, is there an auto ban bot in place on the servers, if so do any of you know how it functions? It seems to be a little overzealous to employ a feature that auto bans people for doing nothing but being glitched out by the server, not to mention being vastly unfair to legit customers who put time and money into their product.

The system detects, but GMs manually ban after confirming.

There are many theories how the system works and it appears none of them are correct. Just submit a ticket if you guys think the ban is invalid. It's been known to happen, but those were usually caused by changes in the game throwing off the algorithms.

Borderline, but please do not discuss ban actions here, as per the forums rules. File a ticket, and good luck!.

The message wasn't bugged. If what you said is true, this look like he got the desync bug from GU2 which mean he was warping in every single location of the area including Out of Bound location like enemy spawn and outside the map border.

There is a thread about that problem with over 30 page about that. While frustrating, your "friend" shouldn't be playing. I didn't for 3 weeks until I found a way to remove the problem.

The gameplay is pretty bad for the user since many things are warping and also pretty awful for the rest of the population since you can't kill something warping so fast.

Of course, that's assuming what you said is true.

As maradine we do not permit discussions over bans here because in the end, nothing will come of it. Your best bet is contacting SOE Support regarding the issue.

Also, I do not believe there are any "Auto" bans in place.
