Seriously tho. i'd wait to see the "info" before making any judgements. Seriously-er tho. Whos left with QA to test the new optimizations? |

Good good, I look forward to more detail later in the week.
You know lately I've been noticing a pattern, a certain length of time into the game my aim/camera's movement starts to become a bit floaty under/over-shooting the target as I try to aim, when I do land all my shots, a lot of them seem as if they haven't registered and I'm emptying an entire clip to get the kill, finally, when I press the exit button on character selection screen to restart the client, the client crashes as if it tried to let go of something but couldn't. I hope this isnt going to be a dose of Snake Oil.
I've heard optimization being worked on for nearly a year now. Fingers crossed, and maybe some double XP to help lure back the masses that have stopped playing to really test it out. |

You haven't noticed any optimization? My low-end machine can actually run the game decently now; there had been periods of slideshow goodness that haven't shown up in months. |

specific snippet: "Update 2: We have been told by a trusted source that as many as 200 people may have been laid off, though this figure includes temporary workers. Allegedly, about 100 of these layoffs were from SOE’s quality assurance and customer support areas." |

Sure, some probably got laid off in the PS2 division, but not all. That would be a bad move. Last edited by wasdie; 2013-09-04 at 10:54 AM. |

Sorry, I thought the sarcasm in a couple of those statements was thick enough. But no I doubt all are gone. I mean how many employees does SOE have tho? And the reports are that 200 were let go. Mostly in EQ2 from what I gather. But with PS2 in release now and they're adding content like it's going out of style, well to the point that they need to halt all content production to optimize (read integrate all the new content properly), you hardly need playtesters. I mean why pay playtesters when an unfinished game has a full community of playtesters (many who pay money to play)? Real players test out much of the content on the test server already - for free.
But like one comment in the thread i posted earlier said: "Oh good, I was tired of games having so much Quality Assurance and Customer Support." Kinda funny tho that the time they need testing the most, they can some of them. yea it's probably focused on other games, but you can't tell me that the QA teams are only hired for a single game. They test all new content and server tweaks. Or they should. But that's what got us here in the first place isn't it. The pushing out of content without studying the full impact that the changes were having on performance and gameplay. |

The game will run better now, but all the buildings will start floating around periodically. I'm keeping my expectations low, and I hope Sony doesn't count on SOE to use PS2 as a AAA launch title for PlayStation4 in November. 'Cos if they do, that'll spell the bankruptcy filing for Sony.

I really hope that these optimization fixes are really good! I hate having such low FPS on the computer I spent to much money on (never enough money to put in it though =0).
I really do want to be able to stream without the huge frame loss that has been happening lately. |

Honestly, I am more interested in them fixing the crashing. At least once a day I get a G29/G30 error now. I never had an issue with performance but this started just the last update .
