Do we still have to buy the game?

This may seem like a dumb ass question but if we do make beta do we still need to buy the game? I do understand we still need to pay for the subcribtion, but what about the actual game dics and such?(as in when it comes out NOT for beta I know that costs nothing)

Thanks

You're right it is a dumbass question!

Just kidding

Yes you will have to buy a new game, it would be cool for beta testers but SOE wouldn't like giving away 20k+ free games.

Wanting a valuable product for free is greedy, whereas wanting to sell a valuable product is not. In the first instance you gain at their loss, and in the second instance everyone gains. You might think you are only losing, but you wouldn't enter into the contract unless you thought it was a net gain for you.

This is sorta on topic... But is there a chance for a slightly lower subscription cost for people who were in Beta?

I'm not 100% but I think DAoC charged less per month if you were a tester before release.

Does SOE have a history of doing this ?

People will play the beta for free, people find it desirable to be in the beta, and I doubt Sony is willing to pay anyone for that service as a result--either up front or as a continued discount. That wouldn't make sense.

Of course the individual testers are not as keen to ferret out bugs when they are not being directly compensated, but the sheer number of them makes up for that.
