Cert Question

How many BEP do certs use? I was looking at the screenshots and they are giving out mass amounts of BEP for doing basically nothing so I was wondering if the points neccesary to getting a cert were really high.

That is one of the great unanswered questions about Planetside. How exactly do BEP's work?

One therory is that they work like cash. Once you get X amount you can "Buy" a cert. In this case all certs would be of doffrent values. For instance the Buggy Cert costs X, while a Tank costs XX.

The other theroy is that BEP's would work like a traditional RPG game where you get a cert after acumulating enough BEP's. So you might get your first Cert at 1000 BEP's, the next at 5000, then 10,000 and so on.

All that aside, I doubt Hamma has any real indication of how it will work. I would be willing to bet that they "tweaked" the BEP's/Certs durring the press visit to allow people to do/try more things.

Well from what i gathered from our great leader different certs cost a different amount of BEPs so it will kinda be like cash, you'll earn a certain amount of BEPs then go buy your specilizations.

Here is what happens, you gain bep. BEP advances your Battle Rank after so many points (max is 20)

With Battle Rank you get x amount of cert points, which is what you use to purchase certs

indeed it does. I thought you directly used the BEP to get certs but you get "cert points" from the BEP.

I too thought BEP's were used directly but instead it is battle rank. Neato!

That clear up some of it, but how much BEP do you have to get for X battle rank (i assume the higher the battle rank, the more BEP). But i guess you don't know

Well Hamma started out with 20 battle rank so I guess the only way he would know would be if he asked the devs which I highly doubt.

I didnt ask. It has to be quite a bit though as they estimated it will take 3 months for someone to reach battle rank 20

It will not be the same for each rank, it will get progressivly harder. i.e.:

Battle Rank one: 3000 BEP
Battle Rank two: 9000 BEP
Battle Rank three: 15000 BEP
and so on. I might be wrong, but i doubt it.

So while you gain EXP for doing basicaly everything, you only get that exp once (ie your dont get exp everytime you look up that hot vanu babes skirt, only the first time, or the first time you go to a cont or access a terminal or have cyber with some other dirty wierdo (the last one was a joke, but you do get BEP's for looking up Hot Vanu Babes skirts) However the amount of BEP's for doing such things is pretty low, maybe enough to get you to BR 2 if you spend your time looking at everything like you have OCD or something, but not enough so that you can get to be an uber trooper just looking at stuff. And I dont think dying gives you BEP's. You always get exp for kills and its always alot more then you get for inspecting HVB #2's clevage. Like 100 for looking at tittys as apposed to 1800 for killing the NC prick that intrupted your titty time.
