Hey everyone, I just wanted to know some things bout the bolt driver and the gauss rifle.... I wanted to know for the Bolt Driver do the shells hit the target instantly after you fire it?
Also for the Gauss Rifle, now Gauss means Using Magenetic Field technology... when i saw it, i told my friend who has beta, and i'm still waiting to be approved for beta, i asked him if you use the Guass rifle near a tank or any other metal source... would it not make it propel faster than normal and do more damage odviously? I know its game but for this type of game based like this i just like the somewhat reality of the game.... keep everything just like for the guass when your near metal it propels the shells faster and such. just wandering if any of this works.... and i hope to see ya boyz in beta too!

About the gauss, no it doesn't do any crazy effects like that. It does however have an interesting blue animation.
Do a search for "gauss rifle" on google you might find more info on the "reality behind the fiction." About the Bolt Driver, it's sorta instant. Standing targets should go down if you're on them, even if they move the instant after you fire (very unlikely). However, if they're moving, there is definitely "bullet travel time" to take into account. You have to lead the targets (without moving your reticle) and shoot before they're red. It takes a lot of practice but eventually you should be able to hit moving targets about 1/2 of the time (I've been playin a week, sniping sometimes, and I can do it somewhat regularly). It's tough because of the CoF system but it's doable with practice ( I like the system ). Hope that answers your Q's

thx, yea it does help, i know bout the gauss rifle and all that stuff i was just wandering if they put that into effect in the game..... i figured the bolt driver would have a time to travel thing, all sniper rifle based weapons do, but yea that is all i wanted to know. now i wont have to try and get near a tank and start firing at it to do more dmg to it lol. thx man

On sort of a sidenote, if you're an infantry and you see a tank you probably shouldn't waste the ammo.
I've been gunning the Vanguard a lot recently and I can assure you that a lone infantry does very little to it... Although it is a quick an easy indication of where the infantry is, so I can lob instant death to them

well i dunno what i plan on doin yet... i may be come a sniper or i may not, heck i may become a mix of a sniper and reinforced exo suit or whatever they are..... so i can get exp for going to battle, and when i dont want to go hea don battle, i can get the bolt driver look at the map and stuff like find a good spot, and do that. but thats not a positive answer yet.

Have to agree with Runner, it you are infantry, don't attack a tank (unless you are carrying anti-vehicular weapons of course ). On that same line of thought, I discovered yesterday that it's possible for a stealthed character to blow up a galaxy with nades. (I think it took me 7 or 8, but I'm not sure how damaged the galaxy was beforehand.... and the galaxy doesn't show up on my stat screen as destroyed )

medics arent totally useless, if i was a squad commander i would have a medic or two in the sqaud because, cause if we fend off a big attack and are stuck someplace and cant get back to base, medics will be good.... always gotta be prepared..... or as i say

The proximity of metal in the vicinity of a gauss weapon would affect the damage of the weapon about as much as turning on a flashlight next to a nuclear power plant makes the beam brighter. That is to say...NOT AT ALL. If anything, the presence of a large ferrous object would attract the magnets in the barrel, causing it to be pulled off target, making it nearly impossible to hit what you aim at.
I've seen a number of "weapons of the future" shows and such which went into some detail about things that are currently in development...they demonstrated an EMF gun...it was powerful, devastating, its projectile traveled at a speed something on the order of 3 miles per second. And it took a BUILDING full of power transformers and equipment to fire it. |
