Here's the steps I take and the problem I get
1)Hit the PS icon 2)SOE window opens and loads graphics 3)Launch pad comes up, hit the contine button 4)Agree with TOS 5)Enter ID and Pass hit sign in button Receive Error window "Operation timed out" I get this everytime from the launch pad. But I can sign on at the PS website. The version on the launch pad is 1.39.1 Any help would be appreciated, includeing a number to call at sony that isn't a fax number like the one they list (1-858-537-0898). Still the unaffiliated observer....Rudenewt |

Well here's a little "update".
Tech support emailed a responce faily quicly. Unfortunately it was refering to EQ (which I don't play) but the guist of it was turn off any firewall or security programs you have running. Well I did that (in the middle of my fourth or fifth attempt at launch pad) and it loaded a launchpad update file. Now launch pad works probably because it has changed to version 4.0 So essentially that part was self correcting. It is now 48 hours later and I'm still "updateing" with rewritten map files (and others, watch out for Map file 13 it takes for ever). On the plus side I'm getting there. Slowly but surely. On the not plus side why am I having to update the same files over and over again. How about we just load the last version? Rudenewt now affiliated with launchpad. |

But wait, there's more.
Hmmmm, 72 hours of downloads, updates, server maintence and more updates and finally we reach; Generic Planetside application error. It just doesn't get any better than this. While I try to remain an optimist here it becomes very hard to comment on a game you can't even get into. Is that a comment in itself? I suppose the story will continue as actually just getting the launch software to work is becoming a game in itself. Rudenewt Launchpad warrior. |

Day four...
Actually I'm using fast access by bell south which connects directly through your phone line like ADSL. And although they are not as fast as I'd like to see, I would grudeingly have to admit they work on occation. The saga contines. No login joy past the launch pad by the end of 72 hours. Today however I was able to see the "pick a server" screen. Of course I couldn't actually pick a server but I could see them all and how many lucky participants were on each. It's great fun. Let's see on every second attempt to pick an active server you get a CTD. I shall continue to play Planetside the launchpad game but first I have to sharpen a few pencils for entertainment.
