wll PS play on my machine?

hi all, newb here. just thinking about buying PS. i fulfil the min req i think, but you know how it is....

i've got a athlon 1.4Gig, 256m ram, a geforce 3, and a 56k modem.

i'm playing in the uk.

any ideas how it will play?

Yes I think it will, run it on low settings.

Because you have 56k modem it will take you around 8 hours to download the full patch

ouch. Im not sure, combining the low ram, low graphics(unless its the ti500?) with low bandwith, im not sure u should bother.

thx for your responses guys. i actually had cable BB fitted last december, but it's never actually worked, i'm still waiting for NTL to fix it. unbeleivable huh?

with BB would it be ok?

maybe i need a new pc, i'm running win me and i think you can't upgrade ram further.

can i dl the patch from a different pc? i've got a fast connection at work, could i burn a cd of the patch and take it home?

think i can afford to upgrade, but with win me and an old motherboard i'm not to sure that me or the pc are up to it. i don't really know what i'm doing. i was thinking of buying a new crate with some custom bits in and using it with my old monitor, mouse, keyboard speakers etc.

anyone got any advice?

i built a PS ready PC with �450

i used no parts from my old PC cept monitor,keyboard,mouse,speakers.

Thats what id do any way... make sure you find out what your ding first tho.

yea man u have just below average....it will run but it will be sketchy. Also if u really wanna play this game...invest your money into cable modem or dsl...something faster than 56k

Aside from the 56k (which isn't that bad you'll just lag a bit more than most) you're fine if you play low settings, i run it with a 1.4Athlon, 256 RAM PC2100 and a GF2MX400. Only real problem i have is RAM, it can take a lot of time to load shit.
