Idea: Need Function

Here's an idea:

Impliment another window (like the Inventory or Squad Window) containing a list of "needs".

For example: "Need Medic", "Need Engineer", "Need ANT Run", "Need Air Support", etc.

When a "need" is broadcast through use of this window, an appropriate symbol is placed on the requester's location on the map (continent and global).

Another, seperate, "request" window would list the need, the person requesting the need, and their location. That way, specialists (such as Medics or Gal Pilots) could keep this window open and know where they are needed. They could also then send a tell to the requesting person to let them know that help is on the way.

I think use of the "need window" might have to be a command function to keep every single person from littering the entire map with requests.

So, for example: Squad Leader needs air support at one of the Ixtab Towers. He opens his "need window" and selects "need air support". The appropriate symbol is placed on the map(s). Reaver Pilot is cruising around looking for targets. He has the "request window" open on his HUD. He sees Squad Leader's request come up. He can then send a /tell to Squad Leader that he's on his way.

I think this would facilitate communications in real-time as well as keeping the chat window from being cluttered with requests that people might miss. Also, it would give "lone-wolf" players someting to do.

So, good idea or suck idea? Or is there a better way to impliment this?

quick voice commands:
"V" then "N" for need and "M" for medic,"R" for repairs...etc.

EDIT; o, i see what you mean, for non squaded persons.
This game is very anti- lone wolf.

You can hear the request and see who said it but you have no idea where they are other than "the general area".

That's why I think this is a good idea. It's more specific.

What would be really great is if there was some way to give XP for answering a call for help.
