Make it about 300-400 gallons and just pick up a few koi - it'll be totally worth it, plus your friend knows about them which means you have instant answers.

I'm doing a little research right now. a 400 gallon pond would yield about 3 or 4 koi if I'm right.

I dont think it really matters jsut as long as you can keep all of them fed.

But i might be wrong.
