My odd FrameRate for my PC.

Hey,

Take a peak into my signature - there is a copy of all my PC stats for the most part, my question is why am I getting around 50 FPS in Half-Life related games - and around 15-20 when a smoke grenade goes off? (i.e.- Counter-Strike)

As you can tell my system is very capable of handing games well above Counter-Strike. I even managed to play Battlefield 1942 on this old dog here - so why not at least Counter-Strike? Planetside ran smoother than anything I've ever run on this thing, any good tech's out there that can give me a hand?

Check the video modes in CS. If you are OGL, try D3D. If you are on D3D, try OGL. Generally one works much better than the other. There are also plenty of CS console prompt commands you can feed it for improvements, but I have no clue what they are for NV cards. Check out like planethalflife maybe.
