Planet side, is it worth playing or TRYING?

Hi there, I am a new user to the forums, I have a friend (IRL) that plays this game, he parted from his TRIBES clan, and went to play this game, some of this team memeber wouldn't join him because of the typical reason.

"Is a FPS really worth paying 12.00+ for?" So he went at it on his own.

I talked to him on the phone, and he kinda gave me a pitch for it, and decided "What the heck, I'll give it a try!"
HE told me about the 7-day trail period in which you can try before you buy, you can download this at FILEPLANET.

Lo and be hold, the money grubbing scumbags have you there, you can't download it unless you're a subscriber to Fileplanet, and it's what. ...$6.95 a month, if there's another server where I can download this DEMO for free, it'd be great! Probably some leech or FTP site someone has up <shrug> BUt seems all links lead to the Fileplanet site from the Fansites I have noticed that this site doesn't have the "7 day trial" in the Downloads section.


So to add INSULT to INJURY, not only the ones that buy the game for 50 bucks at the store, and then waste money on it on a monthly basis, only to get bored with it a few weeks later...this game is probably no better than QUAKE or Unreal, which are pretty cool action packed games, that you can play for free online. And then when you get bored or just dont want to play them anymore, you didn't throw money in the toilet.

But EVEN the THRIFTY, budget consious people like myself cant even TRY THIS GAME FOR FREE??? Emphasis made on the word "TRY" here.

What kind of SCAM are these people running??

OH, and the cout de graut of all things, I was going to make a post about it in the forum about how it was lame that you have to subscibe to file planet to download the Trail...


AND GUESS WHAT... upon registering IN the forums....when you click on the NEW TOPIC Icon.
GUESS what... I get this message "You must be an PlanetSide subscriber to post to this forum"

Upon this experience, I based my conclusion that this game is NOT worth playing, I'm sure alot of you would probably agree if you were in my shoes just wanting to try it out...but man, I probably wouldn't play this game on principal.


Just my 2 cents, I'm sure alot of it would make sense if you were in my shoes wanting to try it out....

Find out for yourself, download the 7 day free trial from fileplanet or whatever, its free so no problem there...unless your on 56k, then you will noly be able to play PS when your 50

No its not free, you have to be a "Paying" subscriber to Fileplanet in order to download it. $6.95 a month.

WRONG.

Tell your freind to give you the free trial that comes with the game. THAT is free and you don't need to download anything.

And IMO, Planetside kicks the living hell outta quake and , escpially, unreal. Just make sure you have the rig to run the game.

Yeah, I dont know if he downloaded the 7 day thing, I think he has the full game, so I dont know if he can download it and burn it to a CD....

a seven day free trial comes with the game when you buy it. So does a month free of charge.

You don't understand, when you buy the game it comes with DISC FOUR. This is a sheet of paper with a key code on the back. All you do is insert the discs (1,2, and 3) install the game, and enter the code and you get 7 free days, no downloading.

Well I am sure in some time some dude who downloaded the 7 day trial from Fileplanet will put it on KaZaA so whatever....

Anyway I wasn't in BETA nor did I see many screenies, I came here jsut ebfore retail, read a bunch of topics, saw the information on the site, read the concept and just went with it, turns out its good so I have kept playing it

Let me get this straight. You come into these forums where you know that people are already paying for and playing this game. Then you proceed to tell them your opinion that it's not worth it even though you've never played the game.
