Too many Orbital Strikes?

Obviously as people level, more CRs are being gained, and more OS's are being used. But won't this eventually spell virtual OS spamming? What happens when everyone and their brother is packing an OS?

In two hours I was either killed in, or seen a friendly AMS wiped by an OS a total of seven times tonight. So "uhhh... yes".

and haven't you been BR 11 for like a month?

Maybe, eventually...but what exactly do you think could be done about it? Trying not to come off as an ass, but state a possible solution to the problem you bring up. Personally, I think that the three hour re-charge is enough to limit Orbital Strike usage. Today, I'd say about 40% of the OS's I saw launched from all sides were unsuccessful. When I say unsuccessful I mean they either detonated ontop of a tree or only killed a handful of people. Doesn't sound all too battle-stopping to me.

Fact is a unlucky Reaver flying over the spot the orbital strike is supposed to hit would stop the OS. I know this because me and my leader put on a OS show and I was in a Reaver with a pile of vehicles below me. It hit me only. Everyone else was mad. So it is effective if it hits. and 4 hour recharge is good enough to limit it. BTW anyone who got struck by the QA's orbital strike at the end of the test on the test server got Pwned. All out hell broke out afterwards. Pretty tight. Point is OS's aren't all that threatening so lets all move on with our lives. Out. Skitt

How would you OS spam? The timer is 3 hours. If you see alot of OS activity. Then there's just alot of cr4+ in the area and they wanna spend there OS before they gotta goto bed.

In Three months I have seen three. Last two this month. The first was was from over 200 meters away. I didn't even know what it was. Second same thing. The last was about 50 meters away from me from the TR. I like it. Other than that I havn't seen very many of them. I can't see how they work all that well due to the time it takes for the Strike and the area they cover. OS Spam? I think not.

Yes, and the 3 hour timer really makes it easier. If you're having OSes in such short intervals, it's a rare occurance, and something you shouldn't give too much thought. And if every1 gets to my level (CR5), then so be it. it's a game, after all. And there are others!

One thing to remember is that the Orbital Strike chews up outfit points. Doing some quick calculations, my relatively small outfit on Johari can do about three strikes a week... if we did a fourth strike, we'd begin to lose outfit points based on our current trend.

That said, we made the decision to pretty much never use an orbital strike unless the majority of our outfit is online, and nothing but an OS would change the tide of battle. As it stands, there's nothing an OS can do that a well-made squad can't.

It's not a problem now, no. But more and more CR4 and 5's will continue to show up as the game progresses. But I thought the outfit point eating was only a rumor? If that's true, then there's not much problem.

a couple of things:

a) i've been br11 for a total of about 5 days. it's slow, because i'm also being SL part of the time now (cr 1.5)

b) i play on konried, where the population is low, to my liking. orbital strikes are VERY rare. mostly, the cr5's just shout out to the zerg where they should go next.

c) it is absolutely true that they eat outfit points.

I think that they should give more abilities then just orbital strike and emp blast to chose from, it would allow for more seletive use of the abilities because you would have to decide which one to pick. I have no idea what they would have the other abilities be, maybe give the ability of invincibility for about 30 seconds. It would take alot more outfit points and it would have a very long recharge rate. This would also only be allowed to cr 5's and you have to be br 18 or higher. Just emp blast and orbital strike don't lure me into becoming a high ranking cr. I can lead squads, haven't been able to because I'm still working on br, without any cr at all. Cr would just make it easier to lead a squad, but I would still like the cr's to have more abilities.
