As may have noticed, the devs have put a new client side patch to 'fix' the speed hack. Now, I've no idea whether it has fixed the speed hack (since I don't even know how to use it).
However, what is has done, is to make the laptop speed bug (bug, not hack, they are two different things) appear again. I've posted about this before, and yes, it affects me. It did dissappear after the patch for LLU play initially went in, but as I say, it's back. The bug means that people with variable speed processors (generally found in laptops) move at approx. double speed. So the new patch, rather than reducing the number of people zooming around, has (possibly) increased the number of speedy people. And those with the bug rather than the hack are now going to get appealled, and possibly banned because SOE have fucked up. Again. I'm not really looking for responses to this (although if you want to, I'd love to see your views), I just thought I should make people aware that this issue has arisen again (and I fancied bitching :) (And yes, I have submitted a bug report about it. Approx. 5 minutes after the patch went on) |

Assuming the fix stopped the hacks, I don't thikn it's going to be an increase. I somehow doubt there are a ton of people playing on laptops
