No, not get rid of. Change HART timer to somewhere between 1 and 2 hours. Lock warpgates not the ability to HART in once a continent locks. Give us a reason to lock a continent.

That'd work too.
Hmm... 1) Change the Hart timer to 1 hour, with a 5 minute load timer. Broadcast to friendlies when the Hart arrives at Sanc. 2) Change continent locks to close the warpgates, but still allow Hart drops. 3) Allow vehicles to be placed in the Hart Now before we start talking about all the changes and such. What if the vehicle transport worked alot like the new mounting for the vanu tech vehicles. They could place a silo/pad on/next to the side of the Hart building. When the Hart arrives you could drive your vehicle to the silo and decon to a pod. This would work for all vehicles and passengers, except air vehicles. Hart would take off like usual and you would pick you destination. When the Pod landed, your vehicle would materialize on the opened pod. Ideally, there would be a loading ramp and such on the Hart building. This would be coupled with gigantic drop containers. This idea further opens the door for additional command abilities. Imagine a CR3, using his CUD, calling in supplies such as a vanguard or AMS. |

Hmm.
Vehicle drop could be cool. I think I'd like o see a limit on the number of vehivles that can drop, but maybe not. Dunno, have to give it some thought

I like Happy Lil' Elfs idea too. But if you had the WG locked, it would be damn near impossible to take it back. No spawn points and no bases. Hmmm.... and most likely they'd put all the modules at the base closest to the WG to defend. So how in the hell could you ever take it back. There would have to be some way to work it out, but I do like the idea of a locked WG. Maybe they could only lock 1 WG so that that one is closed and the rest are vunerable to attack. hmmm.......

Really it wouldn't be that bad. But it would take a concentrated effort. As it stands a squad can usually go onto a locked continent and take a few towers and get a hack in on a base. Should they die they can simply respawn and head back through the gate (assuming they were smart enough to bind at their base on the continent they came from).
If you had to HART in and could only do it once every 1-2 hours you either start to see mass coordination in attacks on locked continents or you'd see people fail miserably. Since people tend to not like failing miserably most likely the mass coordination would come into play. Another thing to keep in mind is your initial strike force can grab towers and get AMSs by hacking V-pads. Not only that but as soon as that first base hack goes through reinforcments can come through the warpgates. In short it would give you as goal for locking a continent, make defendiung a locked continent much easier and encourage the use of more transports and just plain more organization in general.

I know what your saying, and I would be all for it, cept you know we would have the soloists and the ignorant being pissed off cuz they cant do anything alone then, not that I really care, but SOE does.
/edit I love when people actually work together and use tactics instead of just zerging, thats why I bought this game. Anything to help with coordinating people to a single goal is awesome. |

How so? I guess I just don't see what lone wolves would lose if they changed it.

You shouldn't remove the HART, but rather, nerf it in some fassion. Allow it to only drop on home conts+ searhus or something. As for the troopers without a ride, find someone with a galaxy , you get no sympathy from me.

It would take a concentrated effort to break a continent lock yes. But then it's rare someone can single-handedly break a continent lock as it is. What I was asking is how would it take anything away from soloists. They can't practically break a continent lock as it is since it takes only a single squad or even partial squad to stop virtually anything they could try. That's not to say they can't currently get lucky and do it, but I don't think it's a very common thing.
I know people would bitch, but quite frankly I wouldn't care. Galaxies have become far too rare, Sunderers are barely used and when they are they're used more for mobile walls with turrets, and as it stands there is no real incentive to lock a contient other than there's nothing else to do. I think what I propose could help alleviate all three of those problems at once.
