Chapter 18: Back Down the Rabbit Hole

The morning was cold and damp. Jack was in the small kitchen in his appartment cooking some eggs. Jen was sitting on the other side of the island watching the AGN weather broadcast in a pair of PJs she had barrowed from Jack. He couldnt help but laugh at her a bit in his shirt which hung so low he really couldnt see any of her shaply legs. They were way too big for her and hung loosly. He left the eggs sizzling for a second and went into his room and emerged with a Tank Top, he was still wearing the same pants from the night before. He went back to cooking the eggs and listening to the weather. He looked out the window and an Enforcer went by. In the distance he could see storm clouds moving in.

"We have to go back to the base tonight." She said.

"I know. We will sleep there tonight and wake up early for the mission."

"Yea... the mission. What are we gonna get anyways. I mean I know its the parts for your Reaver but what are they?"

"Not gonna say. You will see when we get there. How do you like your eggs?"

"Scrambled please."

The day draged out. Jack spent some time writing a report on parts used for repairs to aircraft in the squadron. Jen was on his computer looking at some web sights. Jack just finished his report when there was a knock at the door. He went to answer it but no one was there. He walked back into the house and sat down on the couch.

"I have a few errands I have to run."

"Can I come?"

"If you want, its gonna be rainy all day though."

"I dont care."

"Lets get going then."

Jen ran into the room and jumped back into her uniform. Jack grabbed a hoodie and a rain jacket. He gave her the jacket and put the hoodie on. They went out the door and Jack locked it. He took out his car keys and pressed a button to unlock the doors on the enforcer. They both jumped in and off they went just as the rain started to fall. They drove towards the east side of the city where the government center was. Jack parked out side of a bank and got out.

"You stay right here, I'll only be a second." He ran up to an ATM and pressed a few buttons, slipped a card in, took the card back, and ran back to the car.

"Where to next?"

"Pay my tab and get some lunch at the bar. Then I have to pick up something at the base. After that I need to buy a few things at the hardware store."

"The bar?"

"Yea thats where I always go. Wait till you try one of their burgers, just like back on Earth."

"Really!?"

"Yea, really." He jammed the Jeep in gear, merged into traffic and ten minutes later parked infront of the Cloud Nine bar. The rain was coming down even harder here. The two dashed for the front door of the bar. Inside was warm and homey. No longer was it filled with the airid smell of smoke and loud chatter of pilots bragging about their kills of the week. A few people were scattered about the bar eating and drinking. The same kid from the night before ran up and latched onto Jack's legs.

"Hey Peace!!! Hey Hey Hey! Whatcha doing!? Wanna go play??"

"Mikey wheres your dad?"

"Ill get him!!!! I will, I will!" He ran off and dissapeared into the back room. Jack looked over at Jen and rolled his eyes, she only giggled. They walked over and sat down in the same chairs as the night before. A few seconds later a short squat man with a red face and even reder hair came out of the back room.

"Hey Jack me boy! What can I do for you on this fine day?" He billowed in his thick Irish brogue. Jack looked up at the skylight for a second and back down at the Irishman.

"Uh, yea. Sean we need two cheese burgers, regular style please, and I need to pay my tab from last night."

"No problem. Lets have the card." Jack handed him the small card from the bank and he sliped it under the counter. A small screen poped up from the counter and read 22 Terran Credits.

"Twenty two now? Thats kinda low."

"They are cloning the cows now Jack, soon they will be able to do it with humans."

"Gee cant wait for that one. Imortality. Its over rated."

"Ok Ill go get your food. You two sit tight." He dissapeared into the back room. Not a second later the big man named Bruno from the night before sat down next to Jack.

"Hey Bruno, whats up?"

"Jack I need you to tell me something. And the only reason I know you know is because you were on Ceryshen. Jack, you need to tell me. I heard Akna was destroyed. My wife was at Akna." Jack looked over at Jen as if to ask if he could say anything. Jen just blankly stared back.

'Burno, you cant tell a soul."

"I wont, you have my word."

Jack looked back at Jen and then back at Bruno. "Akna is gone. The whole station was wiped out by what looked like a giant orbital strike. Thats what everyone was told. It was way too powerfull for that though. Nothing is left of the base. The army bugged out that night, as the Terrans landed everywhere."

"I have to go to Ceryshen Jack. Im going to find Chelle. I know shes alive."

"You sure you wanna come?"

"What do you mean come?"

"To Ceryshen." Jack looked at Jen one last time. She was smiling at him.

"When?"

"Tonight, Ill take you with our mission." Bruno looked at him for a few seconds and gave a face as if to say "Ill be right back." and walked out the door. Sean emmerged a few seconds later with two cheese burgers and a plate of frys.

"Enjoy you two." Twenty minutes later they were driving off towards the hardware store, Bruno included. Jack ran in and came back out with a few shouvles and pick axes. The two just looked at him oddly and the spun off. The last stop for the day was the military base to the north. Jack passed through the check points and pulled up to a hanger. He walked in and five minutes later came out with a long and thin hover dolly. It was about 4 feet across and 12 feet long. Jack hooked it to the back of the Jeep and off they went towards the Cyssor warp gate. Once they got inside something went wrong. They passed through the warp gate. Everything was going smoothly. Then suddenly, the Jeep dissapeared. And so did Bruno and Jen. They were just gone. This was all very familiar. It had happened the first time Jack had gone to Cyssor.

Chapter 19: Obscure Revelations

Flashes of light. Every half a second there was a flash of an incredibly bright light. Jack was laying on his back on something that was moving. His eyes were closed, but he could still see the lights. He strained to open his eyes and he found himself looking down on something he thought he would never see again. A shimmering ball of blue, white, and green. It was Earth. He was hovering over Earth looking down on it. He was in space, but he had no ship, no suit.

"Greetings." Jack would have jumped if he had something to jump off of. He felt a presence behind him.

"Whos there?"

"Do not be afraid. We want to help."

"We?"

"You are the one known as The Peacemaker are you not?"

"Thats my code name yes. But who are you."

"The previous... inhabitors of the planet that we have just left."

"Vanu?"

'Yes... thats what you humans call us."

"What do you want from me? Are you the ones that destroyed Akna?"

"Jack Marslow, we have given you everything you need. You have had it from the first time in a warp gate. You remember that dont you?" Images flooded into Jack's head. He suddenly remembered what had happened to him the first time he steped foot in a warp gate. "You must save Auraxis. There will come a time where you will have a chance to fix everything your kind has destroyed. The worm hole will reopen if you choose one path, and it will stay closed if you choose another. It is your choice Jack Marslow."

"What the hell are you talking about?" The voice seemed to ignore him.

"There is only one more thing to tell you. Presently you can only use the gifts we have given you when you are in mortal danger. To use them at your will you must learn to reach down inside. The power is there and you must learn to grip it at anytime."

"I asked you what your talking about! I dont understand!" Suddenly Jack was moving again. Past the moon, mars, Jupiter, Saturn, out of Sol. Jack suddenly understood what the lights were. It was the stars as he passed by them. He looked ahead and saw a familar sight. The moon of Auraxis, but something was wrong. A giant ship was hidden in its shadow. He only got a glimpse of it as he streaked by, and then he looked ahead again and found him self plumiting into the Cyssor warp gate.

DAMN IT. I AM SUCH AN IDIOT SOMETIMES. I asked vash to delete the post i screwed up on but told him the wrong post #!!!! He deleted exactly what I told him to which was the wrong post. Now I must rewrite it and have vash (out of the goodness of his heart) fix it.

U guys are reading it too quick I think. Read it again. Old Vanu = good guys It still hasnt been revealed to us who blew up akna.

PS Working with Vash to fix the problem with post #53, I prolly wont write a new chapter tonight but re write that one.

Jack felt the bed bend down to his left as Jen sat down next to him. She moved over closer to him, wraped her arms around his arm, and leaned her head on his shoulder. They sat there staring into the darkness. Jen started to lay back after awhile and she pulled Jack along with her. She rolled over onto him and put her ear on his chest. He started to run his fingers through her long hair.

"Jack.... I can hear your heart beating."

"Thats nice."

"Something wrong?"

"No, just a little quick, don't you think?"

"No, its not. I wasnt even expecting this." Jen had rolled over by this time and was looking at him. He was looking down at her. He continued to run his fingers through her hair. He stared into her eyes for a while and finally leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. Jenny sat up, unbuttoned her blouse, slid it down her arms, and tossed it to the side. Jack reached around her and fiddled with he bra strap. A few seconds later it poped off. Jen in turn worked Jack's shirt off. Jen laid down on him again pressing her breasts into his chest. Jack started working her back with his big hands. Jen laid her head between his head and his shoulder and he sucked on her earlobe. He continued to massage her for a few minutes untill his hands started to become sore. He rolled her over on her back and slid down the bed to start kissing her belly. It didnt take him long to start moving up her body and came to her perfectly shaped breasts. He started to suck on one of her nipples and pinched the other softly. She moaned softly and ran her fingeres through his hair. A few minutes later Jack stoped this and rolled over on his back. Jen turned on her side and leaned up against him.

"Whats wrong Jack?"

"Nothing. I just dont want to go all out. Not tonight." Jen smiled at him and laid her head on his arm and slung her arm over his chest. Jack pulled her closer and pulled the covers over them. Soon she was fast asleep. Jack really couldnt sleep though. He finally started thinking about his dream about the devestation of Cyssor. His mind recalled perfectly every face in the dream. Each perfectly clear. As he lay there he recalled how they all died, one by one. Each in the same way, over and over and over. Then he came to a face that he did not remember. It was a female that was obvious to him, but no visible proof in his memorys told him this. Her face was blured out, he couldnt see it at all. There was only one distinct feature that he could recall and "see". Tears were streaming down her face.
