Orginal PC - In this state the game was playable but not too fun in a big battle. PC studdered all the time loading new stuff.
P4 1.4 512mb PC600 GeForce 3 64mb 20gb 7200rpm Large battle .5-10 normal getting around 25-50 Sanc 70-100 New Video card - Very dissappointed!! The new video card didn't help at all in PS. I mean not one bit! P4 1.4 512mb PC600 9600XT 128mb 20gb 7200rpm Large battle .5-10 normal getting around 25-50 Sanc 70-100 OC processor - This helped a very lil bit. no much at all. I decided to move it back to 1.4 the results were so small. P4 1.6 (OC 1.4 chip) 512mb PC600 9600XT 128mb 20gb 7200rpm Large battle .9-12 normal getting around 28-55 Sanc 70-105 1 gig of Ram - best move I ever made to help out in PS. Everything runs much smoother so far. The studdering is mostly gone. Not near as bad as before. P4 1.4 1 gig PC600 9600XT 128mb 20gb 7200rpm Large battle 18-25 normal getting around 40-70 Sanc 80-100 I plan to OC the processor when I get home tonight and try this out. So far the Ram has made the biggest improvement. Also I put back in the GeForce 3 it gets about the same FPS as the 9600XT. As far as PS goes I have wasted my money on the 9600XT. I am sure it will be worth it in other games. I have not tried turning up my setting any. Maybe the 9600XT will allow me to play on higher setting and keep same FPS. I will try that also. |

What is your PC specs. Maybe your PC is able to use the 9600XT better than mine can. I suspect that my processor is now my bottle neck and that is why the video card is not making a difference. Yes I have a 9600XT and I put it back after checking the difference between the two cards. Why would I lie about having a 9600XT wouldn't I just say I had a 9800XT then.
I will bet any money you want that I do have one any takers? |

but it won't work in his mobo ait, not all P$'s have the same slot, and you can't even put an 800mhz fbs p4 in a 400mhz fbs board (same socket)

i know im just saying one with that much of a size difference isnt even as much as half of the 9800xt cost.
And besides that 800mhz Motherboards Abit PT800 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProdu...alog=280&depa=1 65.99 8p And the new things this year may not support PCI AGP, maybe! So if you have the extra money and can afford a new one later. i dont know! 8) and yes rb i know ram. You could do a trade in deal if you did this with the old ram since you just bought it and get a gig of 333 ram from corsair for only 150 minus what you sold the old ram for cause its the only hting i saw when i glanced that couldnt be transfered over. Even the procesor can, but you did just buy the ram, so im guessing you may not want to. Oh i thought he just got the 9800xt and traded in his 9600xt, sorry Last edited by Ait'al; 2004-01-07 at 05:21 PM. |

EWWW PT 800? thats not a very good chipset, the intel ones are the best right now.
PCI-Express suports old PCI card. he's far better off waiting for later and buying a whole new kickass machine!
