I was wondering if the visual effects like grass and small bushes(which will provide some tactical cover for troops) is something that will be controllable in the graphics menu.
Basically I was wondering if it was one of those effects like UT2003 where you can turn them off in your graphics settings to improve you frame rates.

The draw back is obvious... some people would turn it off purposefully to have an edge over others, which would in turn defeat the whole purpose of grass and bushes providing any cover.

On the other hand people that don't have Uber systems really need for everything to be configurable in order to get decent frame rates, which are of supreme importance in any FPS game.

What kinds of limitations would you forsee the dev team putting on the graphic options?

Yes, planetside has options to turn down quailty and effects for a boost in performance. I can't say what exactly those options are going to be and how far they will go as that's the sort of thing that's being worked on daily with optimizations.

I can't imagine they'd take out grass and clouds though. I'm hoping that they just become low quality blocks like in sof2.

Yeah, I'd assume they'd just make alot of the background thigns really lower quality. Like clouds and trees as you said.
