A few weeks ago Actiontrip.com said EB Games had a listing for a Call of Duty Expansion and had a link to EB's online store. Most of the time retailers find out about games before press releases. But to my ideas for expansion pack,
People are tired of fightning through war-torn western europe (MOH:AA, CoD). Vietnam seems to be the new war cliche, but there are 3 theaters that havent been turned into "award-winning" calibur. That would be great using the modified RcTw engine that is the Call of Duty engine, some of these have been made into expansions like the ones for MoH:AA but those suck in single player. -Itallian Campaigns (Monte Cassino, etc.) -North African Theatre (Kasserine Pass) These two have both been done in MoH:AA expansions, but with call of duty's atmosphere and superior gameplay these theaters could be great. MoH:AA is brain dead run and gun action in comparison to Call of Duty. (MoH:AA=Rambo style WW2) -Pacific Theatre (Pacific Islands, Midway, Coral Sea, Iwo Jima, etc.) MoH:PA is supposed to do this but it seems to be more of the same rambo one man army ordeal. If done right (a pearl harbor scenario is to difficult to depict in a FPS game). For those who have played CoD think of the possibilities for these scenarios. Moving onto these scenarios could bring new gameplay into the tired WW2 genre, please no more Normandy to Germany games. Any opinions or other ideas for expansions or how to help the tired WW2 genre? |

well, you're right..but the Pacific Theater would be hard to pull off correctly it seems..North Africa wouldn't be much unless it was a tank game...Italian would be pretty fun...tho i can see the same D-Day feel if they included the landing at Sicily. I think Vietnam would really be one of the hardest wars to depict because to give it a more realistic feel you'd have to have all the traps the VC used punji sticks etc.
but yea i can see what you mean |

Im not tired of the European WW2 genre yet. People are always gonna look at how they can make it better than any other game has done it. I love playing the Russian campaign in CoD. Berlin is the best. When I saw the riechstag for the first time in the game, I was like "Holy shit! This is fucking A!" and than I was caught off guard when suddenly the mg's started to fire at us from out the windows. That was sooooo fucking cool.
They need to make a WW2 game using one of the newer engines. Like Crytek of the Half life 2 engine. That would be an amazing WW2 game.

The WW2 genre is getting stagnant. I understand that each subsequent game does it better, but how about historical fiction? I would enjoy a "What if..." Cold War game set in the 50's where the USSR invades the USA or something. It would also provide an extra punch in that you're not liberating some microscopic Ukranian town, or storming Normandy...again...you're liberating the towns you know. It would be eerie.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

You know what guys forget all my ideas i want a expansion pack where you are the French trying to hold France and fend off the Germans for more than 30 seconds
Seriously, Im a History buff and i loved CoD for that reason even though it wasnt "historically accurate" at times, it captured the atmosphere of World War II. What i want to see is more developed tactics among the AI, the audio code for CoD is just random flank left flank right, set up a base of fire. Realistic commands and such, and giving you an excuse to follow those commands. Thats what could top call of duty, the Half Life 2 engine would be very good for this but a game with the Half Life 2 engine isnt out yet, so im fairly pessimistic about that. (at this rate, Bloodlines will be out before Half Life 2 its self) Last edited by Biohazzard56; 2004-01-29 at 10:22 PM. |

Although I guess you guys will simply deny it and won't believe me. Simply because thier French. Oh yeah! The French helped you guys fend off the Britains in the war of Independance. Well thats my 2 cents.
