About the guy who got "confused" and killed his sister. Cmon! A normal, mentally sound person wouldnt do that. Then they're pawning it off on a game? Sure, im sure his extreme gaming has something to do with it, but he is also prolly mental.

lol boobs in the face...
Ya some people, not only in S. Korea, but in the world are just just plain crazy. You just hear about it more in S. Korea because there are a bigger percentage of gamers there, producing a bigger % of dumbfucks. IMO, it really is pathetic when people dedicate their lives to a game, and even more pathetic when people actually sell things in game (items, accounts, w/e) for actual money. How do they do ^ that by the way? Can't think of a way that one of the traders couldn't just screw the other (ie. one person gives the other the money, and the other guy doesn't do what he's required to do).

There a bunch of idiots who think they can recreate what we had for 30 years as a culture. And then try to bring it into our games and tell us there shallow fascimily of a culture is better and to get the fuck out of there way because they can get over there own penis envy of something they are addicted to and can stand they didnt make and dont understand that being a bigger asshole doesnt make you king of something. Those that are like that that is. Last edited by Ait'al; 2004-01-30 at 08:00 PM. |

People blame everything on games.
That guy killing his sister because he couldn't tell it was real life and not a game? What kinda dumbfuck gets that confused? He's mental, the games did a bit of contributing, but he was neurochemically set to do something like that.

I think that somewhat proves the old adage true- Never make your hobby your work.
Playing games for a living... yeah i'd do it, but eventually it would start to suck. If you've heard of this guy called fatality or something, he is supposedly the best quake player in the world i think. i was reading something and it said he spends like 10 to 16 hours in front of the comp a day. And although i love playingonline games, i cant help but think that if i made gaming my job and my hobby, that coupled with sleep would pretty much control my life. But i guess its the same way with a professional athlete. Cept they at least have seasons. and i gotta say, thats pretty sad that a kid would kill his sister or steal money because of gaming. most ive ever done was create a random string of cursewords for about a minute after getting killed by some goblin punk in ffxi. |

How does one let himself die from playing videogames, and why do the parents let him play videogames for such long periods!?!?! YOUR SON ISN'T GOIN ANYWHERE BY JUST PLAYING VIDEOGAMES, INSTEAD HES GONNA LIVE IN UR BASEMENT TILL HES 50, ONLY APPEARING TO GET THE NEWEST COPY OF A MAGAZINE (which is prolly related to gaming)...

The major problem with this lies in your value system. If you have an empty life, then anything you can use to fill it will make you feel more valuable. The same problem lies in workoholics, they have a distorted sense that they are more valuable because they can earn more money. Troubled students believe that they are worth more to their parents or other social group, if they can score better grades. I have heard of athletes that have died because they worked themselves to death trying to be better than anyone else, they simply collapsed from pure dehydration and exhaustion.
Please people, if you think you might be suffering with one of these problems, get help and talk to someone. It isn't your fault for acting this way, but you can do something to fix it. /rant over |
