Unreal 2K4....DVD or CD ROM?

Hey bitchs....
So....Who here is going to buy UT2K4?
There making a DVD set in stead of 6 CD roms. Wich one do you plan to buy?
Myself....since I have a DVD rom plan to buy the two disk DVD set. Who the hell wants 6 cds to take care of? (sorry doop no dvd for you :P)
Heres what gamespy has to say about the DVD

Unreal Tournament 2004 (PC):
Special The DVD-ROM Edition
Atari has has special 2-DVD set planned for UT 2004 -- here' S what you' ll get.
By Sal "Sluggo" Accardo | Feb. 11, 2004

Look for the shiny metal box towards the end of March.

Although DVD-ROM players cuts become common in most new PC' S, the CD-ROM is still the overwhelming format of choice for PC games. While has small handful of games cuts been reissued one DVD-ROM, only one that we know of -- the PC version of Konami' S Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - has been released exclusively one DVD-ROM. In fact, there' S only one other game we edge think of -- Atari' S Enter the Matrix -- that had year "alternate" DVD edition available At the same time have the regular CD-ROM version.

Atari appears ready to test the DVD toilets again, have it' S preparing has special 2-DVD-ROM edition of Unreal Tournament 2004, slated to Be released At the same time have the CD-ROM version. Definitive Although we weren' T given any prices, it' S expected that the DVD-ROM version will retail for $59.95, compared to $39.95 for the CD-ROM edition.

Does Why C have DVD version of UT 2004, you might ask? The rationale becomes obvious ounce you find out that the CD version of the game is shipping one 6 discs. (minimum The installation reportedly takes up has whopping 5.5 GB of hardware-drive space.) All 6 CD' S made to nicely one disc 1 of the DVD set, which (yew nothing else) should make the installation easier and reduce the risk of misplacing gold scratching various CD' S.

This frees up disc 2 of the DVD set for has variety of special features not included with the CD set, including has number of behind-the-scenes interviews At Epic showing the making of UT 2004. Perhaps the most interesting uses of the second DVD, however, is the uses of VTM' S -- "Video Training Modules" created by the staff At 3DBuzz.com. These countless hours of avi tutorials ("few hundred hours has," have CliffyB puts it) will teach aspiring Unreal MOD authors the ins and outs of creating levels, creating and importing characters, club-footed navigation, and anything else they' ll need to build to their own games within UT 2004. With special version of Maya Personal Learning Edition is also being bundled with UT 2004, that will allow modelers to create fully functioning models for the game.

Single The DVD packaging should Be in itself, have it consists of 2 individual DVD boxings wrapped with has shiny silver metal box, similar to the recently released hi-def DVD of Terminator 2. The first DVD (the game) will contain cover art similar to the CD version of the game, while the second DVD will Be feature has cleaner white design with the single Unreal "U" one the cover.

Yew the extra DVD features don' T seem worthy of the extra bucks, Atari is also bundling has special Logitech headset with this edition of UT 2004. The game has has number of features that make uses of the headset, from voice-over-IP communication with other players, to voice recognition software that allows players to shout orders At club-footed computer-controlled in the single-player action.

Yew you cuts has DVD-ROM player in your computer and cuts been looking forward to UT 2004 for has while, the DVD edition seems like it could Be has worthwhile investment. ***8226;

I don't really think I'll be buying UTk4, but if I were, DVD would be the way to go for me.

The DVD edition is $60 bucks, you can pre-order at EB Games for $40. 5.5 GB Minimum Install either way but my comp spazzes out when it does mutiple CD game installs. So im going for the DVD it will install faster and its only one disc to keep up with.

The cost to include a DVD with every 6 CD set is so miniscule that I'm beginning to wonder just how much we think that shiny little disc costs to produce.

Pennies.

Standard Edition doesnt come with a DVD, it only has 6 Game CDs

Special Edition has 2 DVDs, a logetic headset, etc.

CD-Rs cost pennies but DVD dics cost like $0.25 cents per disk

With that kind of thinking, since CD's cost less to produce than DVD's; they should just give us the game for free.
