Think of Defragmenting your hard drive as cleaning a really messy room. Everything is organised so your hard drive can find it faster, and placed accordingly to maximize potential amount of space.

last time i defraged it like deleted 90 percent of my windows files and i had to reformat and reinstall for 2 days so FUCK YOU WINDOWS DEFRAG! STUPID POS

It appears it was taking 1.9 times longer to read files, my pagefile was in 314 pieces, and I was 51 % fragmented. Wow.
