Relationships are about people- not about spending your quality time watching said person hobble around because he can't skate worth a shit and thus keeps doing faceplants. The critical point, however, is that based on what we've been told, she's not concerned for his well-being. She's concerned that his hobby is preventing her from seeing him. While her care for his saftey may be tertiary, it would seem to be done out of selfishness.

Use of these simple devices can not only save your parents a lot of aggrivation and money, but also increase the amount of time you can spend skating. I'm pretty sure you don't skate with broken toes, or a busted arm (if you do, please die now), so avoiding several weeks of down time would probably be beneficial to you.

Suppose it's not a 14 year old he's dating, suppose it's someone like this:
