I've been thinking about updating my computer, but I'm not quite sure what to upgrade.
My Specs: AMD Athlon XP 1800 512mb PC133 RAM Geforce 4 Ti 4400 Soundblaster Live! 40gig HD Windows XP My motherboard is piece of junk designed for workstations, it won't even take DDR RAM (which is what I was thinking of upgrading to). Anyone know where I could find a motherboard with a 266mhz FSB and some decently fast RAM for less than 100-120 bucks? |

How much can you spend? If you want to do some serious upgrading upgrade your cpu, mobo and ram. Upgrade to a Athlon 2400, get 512 of pc2700 or pc3200 ddr 333/400 ram, depends on how much you want to spend, and get either an ASUS A7N8x or a MSI MS-6590 KT4 Ultra motherboard.

It was in the post, 100-120 bucks...modest, I'll admit, but I think I could probably at least manage a new mobo and a decent amount of pc2100 RAM with it.

Oh I thought that's what you wanted to spend on your ram. Well a decent-good mobo will run you between 100-150. Ram can get a bit expensive as well. but you might be able to do it around $200. Go to www.pricewatch.com and check out some prices.
