Worthless Processes

I really want to get the best performance i can out of PS - and i think one of the big things is shutting down the unecessary processes in the task manager some take up alot of space - do you guys know of any programs or references for processes you can end

and ive defragged many a time cleaned up cache compressed old files run virus scan adaware - any thing else you can think of that will help speed this computer up?
