No, I started with Dendi (russian hybrid of SNES and NES) and my pirated copy of Mario Bros or something like that.

HL1 got 97%
HL2 got 98%
Alpha Centauri got 98%
Gravy Trader got 101%

Both Gravy Trader and AC were strategy games, meaning that HL2 is the highest rated FPS of all time.

Alpha Centauri = one of the best games of all time.

While I'm excited, I don't think HL-2 can possibly live up to the bar that has been set for it. We'll see.

The real question I have is this: Is the PCG Review pure hype? Remember, Doom 3 got a 94% rating, with a small footnote about slight boredom in the scripted sequences. And that turned out to be huge. From what I've seen, the standard rating of Doom 3 was around 86%. Do you think there might be an 8% point bump for Half-Life 2? Is it possible that the small footnote about annoying friendly AI could be a big deal when trying to kill a Strider with a Magnum?

stfu and die, that turn based game, was prehaps the best game of all time, one of if not THE, okay not THE but one of, with a technology tree that was so indepth it included theories that are not even worked out yet, and discribed them to their full extent, gave the player full command of how to build his armies, what? rocket foil poison gas spewing heavy armored craft? yup, i made it, Chaos laser spewing aircraft? yup, gattling laser infantry with a lil ability to launch germ warfare? yup, i did it, nerve stapling revolting cities? yup, did that one too, that game, is pure ownage.

as for HL2, someone tell me why i need to spend 60 dollars to get it? i understand the 10 bucks for DoD source.
