Inter_empire Animosty, the best way to breed fun in PS

While the foundations have been laid for this war, and that is the games objective... I think SOE should, in thier final marketing push towards launch, focus not so much on "What is Planetside" as much as "Why you, the TR Warrior should hate and despise the Vanu Purple Flamingos" (BTW just put whatever empire of your choice)


Why take THAT route you ask? Well, really, lets be 100% honest here, how far do "features" really get you? Thank you. Look at the most popular FPS out there, Counter-Strike. What drives most players, on a subconcious level? Not stats, but to kill those Fing T' Same thing for the Terrorist, kill the pig cops.

I think as players reach BR20, and the next patch for the game is 2 months out... you are going to see that RP element sustain them after the have flown all the A/C, Fired all the guns and driven all the vehicles.. its not gonna be those "features" that keep them comming back for more, but rather the intense desire to inflict pain on the "other" empires.

I praying to God that the game is more like BF1942 and Tribes2 mixed and not some gay CounterStrike (no skill required) wanna-be.

As far as the "features" go... I think they will keep updating stuff as we play it, probably how it'll still be released on time. If they don't keep updating stuff like that, it'll get boring pretty fast IMO, because like Battlefield1942, it gets very boring playing by yourself (without ppl you know).

I agree.
I feel that it will be a big draw if I recieve an email that a successfull cammander is going to log on some night a lead as many people that show up in taking a continent.
I'll feel just as much a draw to see/hear that a battle is going on that has a rival commander and squad/platoon/ army that has defeated us in the past again and again.
What are YOU gonna do in these situations?
You'r gonna join the mass of men preparing to invade.
or you'r ganna get to the front lines and do everything you can to finally turn back that enemy.


Thats what will keep me coming back. not some new gun.

I think the biggest draw will be the whole invasion dynamic. Anyone who's played a game where you can get a few hundred of your teammates and coordinate an attack on something knows thats the only way to game.
