Lightbulb Petition: PlanetSide 2 or New Expansion

Who wants PlanetSide to have a new expansion, or that the should just redo the game, give some massive upgrades, and release a "PlanetSide 2".

I go with either.

Planetside: Perfection

Planetside: Perfection is a collection of new fixes that eliminates every bug encountered in Planetside. This collection of fixes has been long time coming and only offered to those willing to buy it for $49.99

^^^Maybe in 20 years^^^

What about the factor of the next generation of gaming, with new graphics and stability and stuff, will Planetside confront this factor?!

It's not a question of graphics, it's a question of competition. Unreal 3, for example, is not a MMOFPS last I checked. The fact that it looks a lot better than PS is thus really not an issue. Anyone who plays Planetside for graphics is really short-changing themselves. When a new MMOFPS is announced that has better graphics, then maybe people can start to wonder if PS is due for an overhaul (or if the new game is going to be too choppy to play because it looks too good).

Anyway, though, there will be more expansions before a sequel, if there ever is a sequel. Planetside isn't exactly a blockbuster hit. SOE may wish to simply release expansions until the popularity is too low and then pull the plug and not revisit the setting ever again, especially if, say, Blizzard comes out with a World of Starcraft or something.

Instead of spending money making a new game, they can spend a bit of cash on marketing.

I was going to say, I have NEVER seen any advertising for Planetside. I think they will just have to remake the game, the engine is shot.

I've seen plenty of advertising myself, even a TV spot (which is rare for PC games here).

Also saw a bit of magazine advertising when aftershock came out.

I think if SOE were to make a PlanetSide 2 it would be so much better than the current PlanetSide. Not just graphically, but gameplay wise (many lessons will have been learned), technology wise and population wise (with any luck many more people will have broadband).

However... There isn't much wrong with the Planetside we have (BFRs aside )
