I'll be needing to get a nice business phone and laptop for when I go on site at a job for my business (I'm starting a computer repair ship if you didn't know). As for a phone with features, I've just finished setting up my VOIP business phone in my workspace. It's got a digital display and a crapload of call options including multiple lines, hold music and a pile of voicemail options.
A laptop I'll definately need just for analyzing and uploading information to a computer on site (I'll probably get Verizon's wireless broadband service for it), and a nice business phone will be needed so that I can easily interface with email, and voicemail, as well as run GPS navigating for when I'm trying to find my way to the customer. |

Well it came out today as planned - the phone plan on it looks rather pricey though - 79.99 for unlimited data and 500 call minutes? Sounds expensive although it is unlimited data and high speed. Time to look at the other carriers and see if the cost is comparable.
Unfortunatly right now the Q is exclusive to VZW

It's official. It sucks. Check CNN's review:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/0....ap/index.html On the subject of smart phones, check out what I just picked up off a friend for free: Samsung i700 Pocket PC. Touch screen display, integrated camera, phone capability. While its lacking a QWERTY keyboard (you're supposed to use an on-screen keyboard with the touch display) as well as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, it's still pretty nifty. I'll probably just use it as a PDA, I've got a cell with Bluetooth and a PSP with Wi-Fi anyhow, so it'll make a handly planner. I might make use of the GPS once I start doing on-site repair work on people's PCs. Perhaps eventually I'll get a Verizon data package with it (but as mentioned above, its damned expensive) so that I can download updated drivers for an internet-incapable computer while on site, then transfer the files using a USB card reader or a link cable. By then I might just snag a newer model though. Who knows. Can't beat this for a freebie tho. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2006-06-05 at 03:03 AM. |

That review has been posted in several places CNN can't write their own review apparently.
Regardless I don't consider that a "OMG THIS SUX" review, it just doesen't have some features the reviewer thought it should have. Either way the plan is foolishly expensive, VZ is snorting cocaine or some shit. |

sorry I'll stick to a normal phone. I don't need to hold something up to my ear that looks like optimus prime ate my computer and shit ti out on top of a cellphone.
those phones are so big and bulky I couldn't stick it in my pocket, it would break way too easy therefore it is useless to me. |

So I picked up the phone to give it a try, have 15 days to decide weather I like it or not.
So far I think it's cool, I had some trouble with the phone battery life at first but I think there was a programming issue. Verizon had me reprogram the phone and the battery life has seemed to get to where it should be. Will post if i end up giving it up. |

I'm in love with my Samsung SPH-i700 even though it doesn't have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. This thing rocks. Huge touch screen, and transcribes written text on the screen pretty accurately. When I get enough cash I think I'll grab the i730, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, as well as a pop-out QWERTY keyboard and a bunch of other nice features.
I also got a Bluetooth USB adapter for my computer, so now I can link my cell phone and my Bluetooth headset to my computer. My normal headset for TeamSpeak broke, so the Bluetooth headset fills in nicely. Being able to be on TS while I go grab a snack downstairs FTW. |
