Your all wrong. Drones for the win.
Drone ships can shoot while jammed, they have lots of room for Nosferatu, a tank, and tackle or ECM gear. They are probably the best up close and personal ships right now. Though I do use both turrets and missiles(though the only missiles I'm good with are standards)

Nope. Super weapons for the win. Dreadnaught cannons, Fighter groups, doomsday weapons.
In the meantime though, drones remain the most versatile weapons, and as a Gallente drone-ship user and carrier pilot, I can say with pretty good authority that they are the overpowered weapon of choice currently. Missiles, as long as you have the ability to fire Tech 2 warheads, are the second-most versatile. Turrets remain the weapon of choice for snipers and gankers. Funny, my carrier was easily able to smack the shit out of dozens of ships on the test server, generate a nice little pile of BS kill mails, withstand fire from several battleships easily, as well as tear apart anything small with a swarm of 9 tech 2 drones.
I only lost 1 Chimera in 2 days on the test server, and that was to a Phoenix Dreadnaught in siege mode that had partnered up with a Nidhoggur Carrier fitted with a scrambler. They still don't have the survivability of a dread in siege, and will get destroyed by large BS groups. But if you use them in conjunction with a fleet they're invaluable, even if just for their ship fitting/transport abilities. Additionally they're apparently in for another boost by the Devs. I put a lot of consideration into training for Carriers before I started training, and having messed around with them sufficiently, I'm more than happy that I chose to train them. |

Well thats probably because most people have to spend 2 billion isk to get trained and into a carrier, while I've got the corp backing me for the most part.
In addition, most people prefer being a solo pwnmobile, which capitals are not. They thing big guns and thick armor and are dissapointed when they can't fly off and take down a fleet on their own. I value tactical versatility and the abililty to be a huge asset to my gang. I mean hey, how cool is it to lend the Apoc next to you a set of Tachyons so that he can hit those sniper BS that the enemy keeps warping in on us? How cool is it to have some guy who just got his ship blown away fly up to me and hop into another pre-fitted vessel in my ship docking bay? How cool is it to give an Interceptor a nice little pile of Fighters as escort, have him go tackle a HAC while the fighters provide him firepower? How cool is it to remote tank my own fighters or a fellow ship with thousands of HP every few seconds using a capital rep? Last but not least how cool is it to jump to the aid of an enemy fleet simply by having somebody generate me a Cynosural field? Pretty damn cool IMO. If you realize the fact that they aren't solo ships, and often they contribute most just by providing your fleet with logistics support, they're not as shabby as people think. The devs are apparently working on boosting them a bit as well, which I certainly won't complain about. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2006-06-04 at 02:16 PM. |

Holy crap:
http://www.eve-files.com/media/12/eve_chart-rmr.jpg Just found that - I'd assume the big one there is a Carrier? Found my goal in EVE I also enjoy support, logistics etc etc. Course - I'm sure it will be many many moons before I roll with a Carrier |

Those 4 huge ships are titans. The biggest ships in eve. Relativly useless right now. BPO is bugged too so you cant build them. The second biggest is the second teir of "carrier" the mothership. More fighters, HP, fittings, cap, cargo. Stand by, Ill up load an edited version of that showing what we can fly.
