I seriously doubt they'd get it right more on average than americans. videos like that while funny are no way a representaiton of any population. All they do is show off the exteremes.
also keep in mind when talking about the lower portion of the population education or knowledge wise. that America is bordered by two countries and they are really the only two countries that are easy to get to. (and one of thems fucking canada and they don't count) While your average european country borders multiple countries and can access many many different countries within a short range. Your average american is sort of stagnent as far as learning and exploring new cultures and learning from them. While I'm not saying we are at a huge disadvantage the ability to experience that many different cultures is bound to lead to some increased knowledge. but thats all for another topic I suppose. Sadly alot of the kids in the local ROTC would probably say alot of those things.
Watched it again, best part is: "Im a little confused about the Israelis and the Palestinians, which one is throwing the rocks?" Last edited by Biohazzard56; 2007-01-30 at 03:34 PM. |

You'd be suprised how many people on my floor don't know that Soviet Russia was communist, don't know who Dick Cheney is, and don't know that buddhist monks are buddhist. Basicaly if it doesn't matter in thier day to day social interaction, they don't care.
I just asked my roomate those 3 questions, he guessed "monk" for the buddhists, said "some political dude" for cheney, and managed to get russia's economic system right after first guessing socialism. Alot of americans are completly appathetic to politics. geography and basicaly anything that goes on in the world that does not directly effect them.
