So I was sitting down and processing all the info we have recieved about PS2 than I come to think about something that to me is quite pivotal to the original PS.
What about NTU? Will that be gone with the new resource system or will ANTs still be around? Because to me ANTs played a important and fun role in the original and it would be a shame to see this go. Sorry if this has been mentioned else where but I could not find anything about it. |

They said that PS2 would be more of a "re-imagining" of PS1. Perhaps in this version they take advantage of the planets resources. Auraxiam for example was one of the resources used. Perhaps now they used that instead of nanites. Who knows..

i hope its still ingame, running NTU, and keeping a base fuelled broke stalemates, or rather not fuelled broke the stalemates. without it, or atleast some other mechanic, some base fights could go on for days no doubt.
Plus they add another layer to combat, if you know a base is low as an attacker you need to watch for the NTU solo being refulled, as a defender you need to be mindfull of it to and organise a gal escort with an ANT. |

A NTU like mechanic is indeed cool. But having it more complex would also be great.
Idea: besides running NTU to bases for power, what about running ressources from territorys to bases a outfit can build, to improve its defense power? Giving ANTs some fighting power as well, and you have a trucker collum shooting things up on their way to the nearest truck stop. |

though that was a space game, and those games are always about transport and stuff, it may not turnout so well in more of an action game. |

i cant actually believe they planned to take out hauling in the first place, from what it sounded like they wanted to make a mindless action game, which i fear they plan to do with planetside still, i hope it still has proper tactical elements to it, not as in tactical shooter(thats lame shit)...but the overall battlemap and the overall fights with combined arms and support units.

It will have that, simply because this is planetside. And i actually trust those guys from Sony, because i know that those mistakes they did wasnt at all intentional.
And unlike Netdevil, SOE doesnt have a big publisher behind them telling them what to do. Thats what killed JGE, gazzilion forcing ND to do crap stuff. There was once a alpha playtest, Emmisarys told me the game still had bugs and lacked some features, but overall it was good and just needed 2-3 more month of work to be ready for beta. But Gazzilion forces Netdevil to completly redo everything, including the engine. Thats what caused the blackout, and later the Law issues with Codemasters. With Planetside 2, something like that wont happen. And with all you guys here and devs and artists and desingers dropping by to talk to us, we actually have a Pre Beta community just like JGE had it once. And i loved every single day of that. |

oh yea this community is good, especially with the current game still hosting what like x50-100x the amount of player JGC did. I hope SOE start this hype train up and release a trickle stream of good info....or just get us into the alpha...whatever then begin the hype train and advertising.

Ohh yea, alpha would be nice. Always loved those direct interaction with the team, telling them how you reproduce that bug and what you think its causing it, just to have one guy shouting over skype "got it i think". Or literally tearing the client apart, trying to do bad bad things to it, just to have one of the devs asking you in a sad voice "why would yo do that?".
But i guess i wont be that lucky. :/ As for JGE, is miss it, but its done and over. Scott Brown and a few others from NetDevil went on and created a new company, End! Games entertainment. They are currently working on a 2D space shooter called Vorp!. Just search for it on facebook, it is a facebook game. But quite alot of fun actually, much more than all those other Facebook games. In early Alpha, but they do a different approach and let everyone play, and use that feedback to give players what they really want. |
