Nose art on the bombers. If I'm the only one who can see the nose art on my bomber, then so be it.
I wanna see a busty blonde in a halter and Daisy Dukes slinging a 500-pounder. Or checkerboard yellow and black on the whole nose of a fighter. Again, even if I am the only one who gets to see it. How about we can load our own textures for our own vehicles? Everyone else's will look normal to us, but ours can have WWII German Army Forest Camouflage on it, for example. This makes the game more enjoyable for us, while making it no greater burden on the net code, or a potential problem for people with objectionable artwork to display managing to push it through the network where anyone else can see it. If I'm the only one who can see my art, why not make it possible for me to slap it on there? Now, THAT is a thing worthy of implementation! If my buddies all want to see the same nose art on THEIR vehicles, I can email them the file. But, to make it so no network bandwidth is used, (and no lawsuits ensue) no one can ever see art from someone else's vehicle, except the Sony-approved schemes included in game or at the store. ART GUYS, YOU KNOW THIS WOULD BE EASY TO IMPLEMENT! How many OTHER games allow you to paint your vehicle so that it reflects your eclectic style? What a cool feature this would be. Well if they do customizable art/skins, then everyone will be able to see it. They wont do somethin only you see, too much work compared to the number of people who would want that. Most people are about flashing their epeen, so they have to have the latest and greatest, or somethin "unique" (even tho everyone has this unique item, makin it not unique). Its just like in wow, people think they get upgrades and get more powerful, but everything scales with you so in reality you just barely break even. People dont see that, they see a bigger e-peen and so they pay/play more to get it, and this epeen is what they show off.
Skins/decals are for showin off and will be in there, how many and how customizable tho will depend. Decals or some skins that arent super detailed are much more likely. (camo pattern could happen, but it would be repeating over the entire body so that its a super small file size so it wont eat up alot of memory like a full scale vehicle texture. They already dont let us jack vehicles due to memory constraints. (or so thats what they say the reason is) Just moving a smaller decal around is simple and easy and low on memory usage. The teeth on the reaver idea has got to be in the works, dont see that not gettin in at some point. =) |

Ah, but everyone wouldn't have to see it. For example, when I toggle Santa hats off, it doesn't affect YOUR view of Santa hats. You can still see them even if I don't, isn't that right? If I toggle outfit names, it doesn't change what you see over your players' heads.
If I toggle my textures to not include the plants, you can still see them if you wish. So, since files on my computer are accessed on my computer so I can see them, we can have skins that are of a set size that can cover some or all of a vehicle that we can see, and due to issues of bandwidth and propriety, no one else can see. Of course you wouldn't want to be able to paint all enemy cloakers with clown suits and WP's floating over their heads... |

I have often wondered if it would have a negative effect on enemy morale to go into combat wearing clown suits and makeup.
Fellow Jihadis... I regret to inform you that Hassan was killed yesterday, while attacking a school full of innocent Iraqi children, by... by... an American CLOWN! |

As long as it could only be applied to friendlies, and THEY picked it, I really don't see an issue here.
Eh. Some ass-clown will want a swastika on the side of their vehicle. HATE SPEACH! I'LL SUE! Or "OMG! Little Timmy is playing a game where all the planes (even though mom only saw one) have vaginas on the noses! I'LL SUE!" (never mind that Timmy had to download those images manually) So yeah, potential issues, unless it is constrained to your craft alone. |

Plus it will be on your vehicle only, you wont get to apply stuff to others, friendly or not. Should be a nifty feature and another way for soe to charge us more money to put some new graphics on our vehicles. |

It would be nice, as I said, to be able to put anything I want on my plane or tank, visible to me alone.
But, yeah, I can imagine mom coming in and finding Timmy has Bouncing Betty overlaid on his tank, and immediately launching a lawsuit against Sony. Like suing Crayola for Timmy drawing boobies with his crayons. |

Designs of customized warpaint reminds me of this from Avatar:
which is cool but i dont see the necessity of it. I prefer it to be on an Outfit scale to reinforce the social gaming part of PlanetSide2, which would bond outfit members. I see it working to support that unity effort . Last edited by Tikuto; 2011-10-07 at 05:30 AM. |
