Official Planetside 2 Forums

I was wondering if we're going to see an official Planetside 2 Forums go up anytime soon.

Don't kill me Hamma, I love Planetside Universe, and the community you have is awesome, but I was just thinking putting something up on the official site might be a good way to attract new blood into the conversation about the game and it's future in development, and maybe get some more people outside of the old-guard interested in the game.

At the same time for all I know the game and it's development are nowhere near far along enough for them to begin to think about community management despite appearances.

What are your guys thoughts on the subject? I know there's the facebook and all but I think an official forum would be kind of nice to start recruiting the new blood.

Is it to early to get a cinematic trailer? Teaser? This is all I want.

I'm pretty sure they'll have them eventually. PSU is a great way to kick start a community but after release they'll wanna promote their own forums

If SOE wants to have an official PS2 forum, they should strongly consider entering into a partnership with PSU. Just seems logical to me given how established this place is.

I agree it would be nice to have something official, that way we can simply re-direct all the n00bs who ask the same "Whan iz de beetaa?" question.

PSU is a fan site - the best fan site EVER, but a fan site. And believe, me, all of you want it to stay that way. There's no regulation by game officials, there is no censorship, you can say what you want here with whatever language you want, with a few very obvious and very acceptable exceptions.

If there are any trolls here on PSU, I've yet to see them, and if they appear they seem to disappear as though someone has poofed into existence to smite them down with great prejudice, then return to the clouds. Sure there have been a few of us with differences among ourselves but no real all-around jerks. Or at least they're behaving.

If SOE were to make PSU their "official" forums, say hello to SOE-MOD-003 and no profanity, no hot chicks (yes you heard me, NO HOT CHICKS) and a lot more people you probably don't want to share this space with.

That's just my opinion - perhaps Hamma and the PSU site staff would relish an official status - but I for one am happy the way it is. SOE has already endorsed PSU as the official fan site for Planetside, a HUGE honor. For the actual game itself, it will need its own, SOE-managed forums just like every other game out there. Thousands of people will want forum access about beta and such, they can make their own announcements and events, etc.

Sure i can, i can say your a dick and i hate you. NO REPERCUSSIONS! and he said with afew obvious and acceptable exceptions...calling you a ****** might be crossing the line though...we'll see...

I can even type the word dick without having to spell it like "D1.ck" to get through the sensor bypass that would leave me getting more banned or more warning from germ balls like nelson muntz or other screewball moderators that have sticks up their asses. somebody summed it up the other day to something like: PS forums are filled with idiots and moderated by ass-holes" they're dead on.

This really is the honeymoon period though, everything is very sweet at this point in time of any games pre launch calendar, when the news ramps up or there is news of beta or beta ...and if SOE promote this site, its a fair possibility of it turning to shit with an influx of mouth breathers. But i would think by that stage we would see some official forums.

I never really spent much time on PSU in PS1. I used it more for some of it's peripheral features than some of it's main community features. My loss.

I spent some time on the official forums. Shoulda spent that time here.

Planetside 2 will need it's official forums once people start being accepted into beta. Until then, it's not really a big deal.

This is a problem for me.

I'm a horrible forumite (6700 posts on APB forums since.. february or something, was same during the last owner) and I just about always prefer official forums over fansites cos they usually reach more people.

That said, part of me wishes PSU would just become the official forum cos I don't want to leave this place and I sort of doubt I have the power to stroll two forums as the game comes online.

Just that it's not like it would happen, PSU becoming the "official" forums. But at least for now while they don't have forums they should IMO direct people here from the official website.
