F2P = Letting everyone drive without driving license, and without any repressions for breaking rules, so there will be more ppl on road for increased cas sales. Yea you are probably right. I would refuse to drive if that would happen

I wonder just how far ahead you can reach by plunking down the maximum amount of cash?
And I wonder what that amount is?

That's you. That's what you sound like. If you are terrified of f2p, I've got news for you buddy. That train has left the station, so you are just going to either give up on playing mmos or just deal with it. More and more games are switching to f2p all the time. So, you can either panic, or take a look around at the huge amount of f2p games already out there and realize the sky isn't falling. |

So its completely F2P? Just IMO but this is bad news. This means they literally get no revenue from this game unless a lot of people buy crap from the shop. Which means you can kiss it being cosmetics only goodbye. It wont be enough I guarantee. Power will be sold if necessary to pay the bills.
And then there is the hacking. Completely free means no penalty for hacking. So what if they catch you an ban you. Make new account an continue to hack for epic lulz. I pray to god that AT LEAST a valid credit card is required for making an account. I think during the next Q&A we need to ask them to lay out some of this stuff for discussion. I think this could ruin the game worse than any killcams, or faster TTK's will. They have a good product as far as I can see. I think it can and should be sold in a box for the additional exposure and because it will sell. Don't rely on the shop alone an then have to make the game pay 2 win a few months in. |

With F2P, you end up having a huge percentage of players who never spend a single penny. Then you have another big chunk of players who only ever buy a couple of things, ever. Then you start getting into the few percentage points of players who buy several things a month. Not an insane amount of money, but it adds up. Lastly you have the tiny fraction of Mr. Moneybags, who buy every single thing in the shop, then buy a ton of stuff for their friends and guilds/clans/outfits. Add em all up and somehow you have more revenue than a lot of subscription based games. As for selling power, that depends on your definition. Higby has already confirmed that players will be able to purchase certain weapons in the shop. If you consider that to be selling power, even if you can earn those guns and even if they aren't overpowered, then I'm afraid you are out of luck, because PS2 will absolutely be selling power based on that definition. Considering that all of the variants in the game are sidegrades and that you will be able to unlock the vast majority, if not all of the variants through skill tree advancement and/or random drops, I don't consider it selling power at all. Selling convenience and shortcuts maybe. Power, no. |

Someone mentioned having arbitrary ammo pickups, that replenish a little ammo for any weapon, dropping from dead enemies, with weapon drops happening occasionally as well. I would imagine he's pretty close to accurate. Much of anything else would be pretty lame.

Well, I think that would be fine, but the player should always drop the weapon he's carrying. If a players you killed had a 1/4th chance to drop a Jackhammer of Accuracy when he's holding a Gauss, that doesn't sound like something that would work. Which is kind of what I'm getting from that.

just wondering if i'm crazy or not because i've been contacted by gamestop automated message system, saying that "the game's production has been canceled", or something along those lines. "please show up to use your store credit towards something else.... blah blah"
Going into gamestop to figure out what the hell that was about tomorrow, but has anyone heard anything similar to this? |
