Detail like that is cool and impressive, but not really that impractical. The trick is that the game doesn't have to show that much detail when you aren't close enough to see it.

But time will tell exactly what makes it into the final game. I'm certain that some things will look a bit different in the final version, but nothing I've seen so far looks that impossible for a high end machine.

Of course rendering one soldier versus rendering 100 is an entirely different matter. It may be that when there are a certain number of other players close by, you won't see that kind of detail even when you are close up. Really hard to make predictions without seeing more of the engine in action. The game ran damn smooth when Higby showed it off the other week though, accelerated time of day included.

we are talking about a PC exclusive title here. Its been a couple of years since we saw a true pc title imo the last one was Crysis 1. Since then every game was dumbed down because of multiplatform release. I think the detail will be the same in the final game if not better

The only thing worth noting about T-Ray is that he loves VS. VS art got a lot of pass overs in PS1, sounds like it's getting the Lion's share in PS2.

One reason we wont see that in game is, that I can't imagine there being too many ways of zooming that close into armor Well, I guess with binocs/sniper scope from 10cm away
