I had no doubt that Guild Wars 2 was going to win. That game has a huge following, we didn't have a chance.
It is however, disappointing to lose to FireFall. Although we're still on the page and relatively high up there. At least it's something!

no surprise firefall bet us, we fuelled by +90% existing PS1 players. With official forums this games hype snowball would pickup speed and mass.

FireFall is very smooth and the trailers are very nice.
But it has nowhere near the same depth that PlanetSide has. No vehicles, no aircrafts = less dimensionality of play. There is DUST514 by CCP also in the running but once again, in terms of depth, these games are already beaten by PS1. |

Well I'll just say well done everyone who voted, 3rd place overall was no small feat given the competition and we were battling hard for 2nd holding it many times during the vote.
You all get cake as a reward

As much as I'm sure that the Firefall community wanted to take first place from Guild Wars 2's clutches, I strongly feel that we were a big part of motivating them to hit the voting as hard as they did.
That rivalry was a lot of fun and I think it motivated both Planetside 2 and Firefall fans to really gun for as high a spot as we could manage. Even though it is rather different, I'd have to say that Firefall is about the closest thing to competition that Planetside 2 currently faces. I don't see that as a detraction from either game, instead I see it as a chance for both games to thrive in an untapped genre. I'm gonna check out Firefall for sure, but Planetside 2 would have to be a huge let down to end up being my second choice. Firefall will probably be more of a warm up act for me
