Free to play games open up a can of worms in the player base. There's people who will cheat, greif, exploit and do whatever they can to anger everyone else while getting their daily "lulz." League of Legends has a very large player base and to combat unwanted behavior they introduced the Tribunal System.
To anyone who doesn't know what it is (and wants it summed up), basically it's a system that allows people to judge other players who have been reported. Every day players who are level 30 in LoL can look at 10 cases in which they're prevented with the report, chat logs and other information from the game it was reported in. Players can then choose to punish or pardon them. Punishments are then handed out by Riot staff. Basically if you're being a jerk, then you can be reported and judged on by other players. Planetside 2 could benefit from a similar system. It's not a priority feature, probably best saved for if the game grows in popularity. Say if you have someone on your empire who is being a troll, is griefing, or cheating then people can report them. Those reports could be looked at by other players and then be judged upon, with punishments handled by SOE. Obviously the rules, implementation and other mechanics would need to be looked at to suit Planetside and to prevent people from abusing the system. Either way, it's a creative way to let the player base police themselves. |

Yes i agree with you, i think its a good system, even if it throws only 5% of random reports, its 5% of trash GM's dont need to look at and can get to those urgent matters faster.
The problem is, alot of people dont understand the system, even in lol, they think that it somehow gives players to much power and that zerg outfits could get anybody they want banned, we all know thats not the case, but this is the internet and retards do come out. See for yourself. The problem is though impilmenting this system in PS2, it maybe quite hard. though if they give players capture/recording technology built into the game client, this could be very easily done, provided you could upload the segment of recording easily to SOE. otherwise all you have to do is go on somebodys word(just like a gm would with any appeal, where he cant see the griefing done) im not sure we would want to give players the abilty to veiw other players, but its may work if you can only process appeals n a server where you dont have a max level character. |

LoL needs additional help because of the specific nature of the game. It has very long matches with few people, and people can't jump in or out, nor is team balance an option. 1 person fucking off can ruin a game for 7 other people, so their bar for punishable misbehavior is far, far lower than most mp games. PS2 is considerably different. If one person is hacking, you likely won't even notice, unless its an incredibly apparent hack. If someone is idling, whatever. If they are TKing, they'll get weapon locked. If they are screaming profanities, you /ignore them. If they are getting in the way, you kill them, eat the grief, and move on.. like as not you won't see them very often considering the number of players. Obviously there needs a system of reporting players, but the only people that need reporting are people hacking. The other misbehaviors simply aren't damaging enough to warrant bothering with or already have automated systems in place. And you don't need player judges just for hacking. |
