Planetside shuts down computer

Hello everybody

I recently decided to resub to ps1 again, but my computer now often shuts down the moment ps1 is loading the serverscreen. No error-message whatsoever. It;s like the power is turned off.
I've played ps1 with this computer before with no problems. the only thing thats different is my new ati 6950 card. But its working perfectly in BF3/skyrim for long durations.

Do you guys have any idea whats going on? is my new card to fast for ps1 or something

thx in advance

i find it best not to touch anything while the server screen is loading, or i also risk fatal meltdown.

I have a habit of alt tabbing out of game as soon as they start up to do other stuff while they still load.

Not a good idea with PS.

Planetside is notorious for working worse with newer hardware sadly. I've heard real bad things happens when mixing ATI cards with PS. The only real bit of advice I have is to use an older piece of hardware. Perhaps an old Nvidia card you have lying around.

You can try putting the game in Administrator mode (I'm not sure if this is a feature on Windows 7 or not) but that usually remedied most problems I had with PS or any other application on Vista. But Vista is an entire other bag of shit.

I guess that isnt exactly a rule either though. Planetside works real nicely with my ATI HD5770, at after I let it start up properly before touching anything
