Hmm. Like others have said, it feels weird to me that this would be a "short range" version of the cycler. I mean, the primary reason to extend a barrel is to give more range and accuracy, not less of both or either. LMG are not meant to be CQB weapons, though they can be used for such in a pinch. Just too heavy and unwieldy. They are best used at medium to long range for suppression and ground control over an area vs infantry and occasionally light vehicles.

If its a short range suppressive SMG it would look the part with a shorter barrel. Im wondering if the longer barrel is a side-grade option or comes as standard? As far as im aware you cant prone position, otherwise a tripod on the longer barrel would have looked the part.

100 rounds? Woha

I really hope the VS get something similar. I love the "rapid constant fire" stuff. But i love lasers a bit more. Now combining both, hurrrrrr

I'm sure all the empires will have similar variants.

Re: The Cycler

Seems like we have seen the standard Cycler in screenshots already (though it lacks a magazine in these shots it seems) http://www.planetside-universe.com/m...hp?img_id=1832
For an assault rifle it has an appropiate lenght, but the Cycler CQC variant is indeed a bit too long, now that I have seen this screenshot.

Edit: That's what the Cycler ARV would look like when beeing held by a soldier (the black overlay). The angle is not quite right, but the overall length from this perspective should be pretty close to what it would look like I think.

How long is a G36k? MG36? MG3? RPK? PKP? M60? M240b? C9? the LMG version of the L85? What about .50 cals? A long, heavy, barrel is a staple on both heavy and light machine guns.

The mentioning of close range effectiveness means damage output based on a large round, not handling mechanics or ease of use in CQC, and the suppressive fire bit is the clincher... this is a medium range LMG.

It might be, if Cycler ARV's weren't solely available to these guys.

Not as long as this gun here.

Possibly. They're certainly a hell of a lot bulkier.
