Ok, like I said in the first post of this topic, it would be interesting for an expansion. Obviously it would take away from game play now, but in year or two it would be nice. And NeoTassadar is right. It wouldn't take much more rendering. Just flat water for oceans, and there's no windows on a sub , so you wouldn't really have to create a underwater enviroment. Maybe a view screen for a sub, and some port holes, a glass dome for an underwater base maybe? But you'd really only need grey kinda bumpy ground. Plus they'd have to put in some type of swimming capibities, so falling off, or abandoning ship wouldn't mean death perse. And it wouldn't be pointless. Any good tactician knows naval combat is estential to war. For example: Warp gates always take you the same location. A squad comes through, and can be ambushed at the gate. Landing craft, and a naval bombardment can over come that. Sure, there's no reason for it, but in two years when the game is getting old, it doesn't sound so bad. Here's a scenario for it even: A powerful weapon is discovered under the waves, left over by the aliens. Who ever gets it, wins the war. So it becomes a "sea race". Only santuary's have a harbour to build ships, and if you want to build more, you have to control a whole continent. So it'll still be a land battle, but there's reason for ships, but there won't be to many. And submarines would definately rule all. Crewman#1: "Captain on deck!" Captain: "Report tactical." Crewman#2: "2 Vanu battleships guarding the port to our sactuary habour. They haven't detected us, we're to low." Captain: "Arm topeados. Rise...." *Sorry, watching a little to much "Hunt for Red October"* |

Big ships = bad
The largest vech in game holds 3 people for a reason. The devs dont want large super weapons. Small gunboats, jetskis, and hovercraft would be fine watercraft (NC, TR, VS in that order). Underwater bases could be scraped for floating platforms. If we can do it now, it shouldnt be hard to implement in game. Capturing said platforms could allow for oversea travel between the continents it connects(another way to get around continent lock). I never heard about the deliverer going into an ampibous mode. Was this just an idea, or do i have to go back and reread the site? Ahhhh screw it, ill read the site anyway |

Underwater combat would be a huge project if they wanted to do it well. Have you ever been to an aquarium? The plant life alone is enough to cause months of work. Do you have any idea how complex a coral reef would be to make?
I could take or leave water combat...I think if they wanted to add water they should add subterranean sea caves that lead up under bases and all over the continents, like those caves the Vietcong used in 'Nam, except with water.

not a bad idea Arsh.
I am just wondering how they are going to expand the game at a later date. I feel that just adding more continents isn't going to cut it. Adding a new and unique style of gameplay would. Spacecombat, underseacombat, underground combat, combat with vegetables. It doesn't matter to me. I just hope that when and if the time does come that they expand the game. It isn't more of the same, but something new. or it might become stale. I am still indifferent about boats. I guess a few overwater platforms would be alright, giving added connections between the continents. But large battleships or carriers should be right out. Small boats, ok, I guess. but everyone would have to have armor that allows you to breath and swim underwater. Heavy armor would be right out. I guess you can come up with some wierd SeaMax. It would be unique, but I can't say that I would be playing it much. large groups of infantry fighting underwater with some swimming capibilities. That would be cool. But then it is my opinion. this is years away anyway.

I really dont want to see boats and such. What i really want to be able to do is fly from one cont to the other in a galaxy. Thats what i want Im sure having all air ships being able to cross the ocean is a little unreasonable, but i really think it would add a nother dimention to the game if you could fly to continents, but it would have to be balance with say, long flight times. Anyone else that would like to see that?
