In most of the UK, that is outside the cities, you rarely see above 8mb on a seriously quick day. Bit out of date I reckon but there you go :P Latency sometimes gets shorter as you connect to servers on the continent...
Not everybody has Fibres running to their modem. In games like this you HAVE to make it playable on the worst case scenario at minimum requirements on a heavily throttled internet connection to have any chance of hitting a Top 10 Best Seller list. |

Also. This game is a LOT bigger (4x at least). But I severely doubt your understanding of server and network architecture allow you to determine that. |

And I appreciate the sentiment regarding prediction, but that's just not how it works. There's no difference in processing time between a 300 ms player and a 50 ms player. edit: Also, ping has nothing to do with your bandwidth. You can have 50 ms ping on a dialup connection and 300 ms ping on a 100mbit connection, it all depends on the route between you and the destination. Last edited by Gandhi; 2012-02-23 at 02:39 PM. |

You're right that I couldn't tell you exactly how it'll work either, as I am not one of SOE's network engineers. I've done enough computer networking, and we've seen enough prior examples of it working, however to know that it is feasible and not impossible as he insisted. |

More importantly, I do hope you're not solely comparing this to the experience in PS because the game was not great at dealing with movement prediction, even for local players. |

I know everyone is upset about being split, it sucks. But for once, maybe think that this isn't a money grab by SOE, and it's for the benefit of the players. Maybe, be willing to accept it and enjoy the game? An aside, someone had an idea of international and regional servers, which is a great idea. Only thing is, would there be a cooperation between SOE and Prosieben? Or would one take over the international server? I can't think of a scenario where it isn't a gigantic mess for either management or the players. But the idea is ideal. |
