And I agree actually. Yes, I'm allowed to change my mind on subjects after contemplating it. Call of Duty is a very arcade shooter just made to be fun. And that's fine for that. But Planetside 2 is just as much RTS as it is FPS and should be treated as such. |

I just don't think a Killcam is ONLY for an arcade shooter. Plus 99% of shooters are "arcade shooters" so that makes it a common feature in shooters in general. |

The new one? On one hand, I thought it was kinda cool giving a little cameo to he who killed you (especially backed with taunting emotes). I don't feel it's a big issue as far as showing the person who killed you. It was pretty close up anyways. Yes, it would give you some info on a sniper, but not really an exact position, unless you are familiar with a certain terrain feature. More of "he's on top of the base, or in the hills by a tree." As for infiltrators, if you kill someone, they will know you are around anyways, so not really an issue there. However, it would be silly to show an invisible person if still. But I am not against this. I'm open to most anything until we test it in Beta.

I could deal with having to use a cert to stop you showing in a kill cam. The problem I have is that it will ruin the stealth of the game.
I love splinter cell and stealth games and hearing guards all confused while I sneak up behind them is just priceless. This is also MUCH more satisfying when it's real players. |

We'll see how it plays in the beta.
I've been playing tons of BF3 and despite all of the people saying kill cams would ruin the game, it really made no difference in the end result. The kill cam is to general to give you a good idea where the enemy is. Even on the battlefield maps, where you have every square inch memorized, it's not a big problem. The biggest thing it does is make sure that people learn to not just sit in one place. That's the only thing it does. If the person is on the move, the kill cam is just for show. The only times it matters is when somebody is hiding away and doesn't want to get seen. From what I've seen of the gameplay, this isn't really going to be a major factor in Planetside 2. If people don't want to be seen, they have the invisibility cloak. |

I think people just don't like where modern FPSs have gone myself included. I am tired of killcams and all sorts of incentives for cowboy antics and individual play. +39833pts for assist grenade kill! I just don't like there FPSs have gone. |

But there's a lot of good that came out of modern shooters too. Some of which is really good for Planetside. |

Now they are just really for show. They never are "HE IS RIGHT HERE, KILL HIM". Even in Battlefield 3, as I talked about before, the kill cam doesn't give away anything. I really think people just see the kill cam and associate it with modern shooters. The true gameplay is mostly unchanged. With maps the size of Planetside 2, it will be much harder to exactly locate where an enemy is via the kill cam even more than it already is. If it was compromising gameplay that much in the alpha tests, it wouldn't be there. Simple as that. It's not like the team is made up of guys who had nothing to do with the original Planetside. |

HATE the KILLCAM for all the reasons everyone hates it that have been expressed. Especially from a cloakers point of view. Hate it, remove it, let it die its death and have it showing ALL of us in threads like these.

COD and BF are practically 4-letter words on these forums, and I can understand that. The majority of kiddies in those games can be d-bags. I just think blindly throwing an idea out simply because COD does it is narrowminded. For example, I wish the PS2 killcam was more like COD's, but I'm in a HUGE minorty with that opinion, and I got flamed HARD for it. EDIT: Example, I don't agree with Skittle's comment above, but he doesn't say it sucks because BF does it. He is able to look at it openly. Last edited by Raymac; 2012-03-07 at 05:00 PM. |
