I'll be playing Dust before PS2, because it will be released first and is sort of like a mini-PS2. Something to tide me over.
When PS2 releases though... let's just say I'm lining up an early retirement. |

" Each War Room supports a maximum of 32 players at once."
>> http://www.dust514.com/en/news/?article=2041 "War Room" sounds like a pre-fight lobby. I think this means that each battle is either; 32 players if the War Room hold both teams, or 64 players if each War Room hold one team. Or my speculation could be completely wrong. Either way it is not gonna match up with the 400+ player planetside battles. Last edited by Biohazard; 2012-04-03 at 06:17 PM. |

A lots of people think thats games like MAG or planetside arent good because sometime u play with absolute idiots lol but it also happen in smallers games ive play Bf franchsie on PC and on console and sometime i get some idiots as well ! But planetside in my point of view due to the scales the players need a way more team work and skills to be able to survive and suceed Less players = less chance to be ambush = more predictable senarios etc... But i would like to have ur comments on both games on every aspect not just on scales ! But for me both games shares a tons of identical idea and are similars in many way Planetside is more like a real lifelike war in term of strategies and possibilitys and dust seams to be a great games as well with average guns mechanics and great caracter custumisation skills advancement backstory etc.. but planetside 2 seams better in term of gunsplays and balisitc etc... DONT FORGET TO POST A COMMENTS ON YOUTUBE ! Last edited by Stew; 2012-04-03 at 08:12 PM. |

Dust 514 has a bigger world and CCP plans to have larger servers (after some development) than Planetside.
However CCP is brand-new to FPSs and based on their alpha footage it really seems like they've screwed up their FPS mechanics.

This is like comparing wine with steak, they're COMPLETELY different things, Dust is a round based game of 64 players however it wants to masquerade as an mmo, Planetside is a persistent none round based game that never ends with thousands of players.
Why on earth is there even a comparison being drawn? I wouldn't compare Planetside to CoD, Battlefield or Halo, I wouldn't compare World Rally to Formula 1. I wouldn't compare wine with steak. Stop fishing for youtube views on a mashup of footage of both games with absolutely nothing of value added. |

I was the CEO of PlanetSide's "corp" in EVE Online, as some on here may remember.
You'll see I'm still sporting an EVE signature from one of my other corps I was in for a while. I've always been a huge fan of PlanetSide and EVE, and thus I've felt very torn when it comes to DUST 514 and PlanetSide 2. Similarities: Free-to-play with vanity items store Larger than normal scale combat (compared to most match-based FPS). Sci-fi theme Established universe Air, Vehicular, and Infantry combat One / few hosted shards that everyone plays on Similar combat roles available for soldiers Similar specialization / equip system Differences: DUST 514 is PS3 exclusive, PS2 is for PC PS2 is much larger in scale, in terms of players and size DUST 514 matches are "winnable", PS2 is persistent PS2 contains a bit more variety in terms of equipment and tactics (from what we can determine). I think both games are great from what I can see. I don't think they step on eachother's toes too much due to being on different platforms. I love the EVE universe, and I love the PlanetSide universe. This is going to be a very good year for me.
PS - Before anyone flames me as an EVE fan, I guarantee I have more posts on this forum excepting Hamma than anyone on this thread (I'm a long-time vet), and I've met Hamma (and friends) as well as the original PS devs (including T-Ray) in person, plus rode on rollercoasters with them. I think I can safely say I've got pretty good perspective here. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2012-04-04 at 12:43 AM. |
