Why on earth is there even a comparison being drawn? I wouldn't compare Planetside to CoD, Battlefield or Halo, I wouldn't compare World Rally to Formula 1. I wouldn't compare wine with steak.

Stop fishing for youtube views on a mashup of footage of both games with absolutely nothing of value added.
There is a reason for this video a purpose other than view lol i dont care about view hahaha !

i just want to see how people think and i want it to be seen because ive put toguether the most gameplay of both game that i was able to find with all action ! So people can see from those wich one gameplay wise they like the most and also i want to see if anybody can make a contructive comparaison between the 2 !

Booth game share a lotsssss of aspect

there is a few thing thats both games share !

Caracter Implants

EVE like caracter skills advancement Online and offline

lots of vehicules Air ground and transport

ALLIANCE in dust/eve = empire

Corporation in dust eve = clans or guild in ps2

Both game share the same custumisation for vehicules 3 differents slots utility defensive and performance + weapons custumisation and upgrade on each + 4 cosmetik slots etc...

cosmetik custumisation for caracters and weapons
upgradable weapons

Holding a piece of territory (( or planet in dust )) give your empire or corp ressource colection !

Game driven mission in both game their will be a mission systhem given by the game like servers based mission !

Players driven mission In PS2 is given by (( leaders )) in Dust can be made by eve players or dust players

Certification tree

NC TR VS (( SANCTUARY )) = kINDA HIGH SEC EMPIRE SPACE in dust / EVE
etc.....

The difference between both

Dust514 work more like MMO instance u load a mission and go back to the mmo univers via lobby

Planetside 2 work like a open persitent MMO FPS their is no instance gamemodes

Dust514 feature a 24 vs 24 players or 32 vs 32 players

Planetside feature 1000 to 2000 players open continents

Dust514 have specific maps with atackers and defenders mostly so far

Planetside have a free way inside the sandbox to atack from anywhere at anytime

Planetside 2 have a real time day and night cycles

Planetside have better visual so far way better lol

Planetside 2 seams to have a way better gunplays gameplay
etc...

But both game share a lots of intensive elements that make both games similars to a lots of level but also different in term of scales sandbox and many others but dust and ps2 apeal to the same kind of player based

You'll see I'm still sporting an EVE signature from one of my other corps I was in for a while.

I've always been a huge fan of PlanetSide and EVE, and thus I've felt very torn when it comes to DUST 514 and PlanetSide 2.

Similarities:
Free-to-play with vanity items store
Larger than normal scale combat (compared to most match-based FPS).
Sci-fi theme
Established universe
Air, Vehicular, and Infantry combat
One / few hosted shards that everyone plays on
Similar combat roles available for soldiers
Similar specialization / equip system

Differences:
DUST 514 is PS3 exclusive, PS2 is for PC
PS2 is much larger in scale, in terms of players and size
DUST 514 matches are "winnable", PS2 is persistent
PS2 contains a bit more variety in terms of equipment and tactics (from what we can determine).

I think both games are great from what I can see. I don't think they step on eachother's toes too much due to being on different platforms. I love the EVE universe, and I love the PlanetSide universe. This is going to be a very good year for me.

Well, it exists within an MMO universe (EVE-Online) that can directly interact with it and influence the battle... I don't really see that as masquerading.

PS - Before anyone flames me as an EVE fan, I guarantee I have more posts on this forum excepting Hamma than anyone on this thread (I'm a long-time vet), and I've met Hamma (and friends) as well as the original PS devs (including T-Ray) in person, plus rode on rollercoasters with them. I think I can safely say I've got pretty good perspective here.
Why would anybody flame you for being a EVE fan. I a fan of EVE and played EVE-online myself for about 2+ years. I was able to participate in about everything that game had to offer. With that said tho, I'm still a bigger PS fan. lol. I was maintaining my PS account while I was playing EVE rotating between the two.

Both are free to play, both involving shooting things in a sci-fi world. Can't I enjoy both? And yes, Dust is part of the EVE universe, and maybe not in the same "scale" as PS 2, 32 vs 32 battles is fine with me, with orbital dropships dropping supplies etc. I played during 03-07 so I have vast PS experience. Most of which involves being shot round a corner due to crazy lag issue, probably because of the numbers factor. There are reasons for and against 32 v 32, I'm not saying I prefer either, I enjoy both, but don't put a game down because it's limited by numbers. Counterstrike 1.6/source competitive was only 5 v 5, and that was way more popular than Planetside ever was

inb4 "omg console noob/your a hater of planetside 2" I actually can't wait to play Planetside 2, I will just be playing alongside Dust 514 if it's any good, and if anybody had been paying attention to dust, there are keyboard/mouse controls in the Alpha footage, to which a developer when questioned on it said "Now why would we do something like that?"

In fact i dont understand why people said thing like PS2 matchs arent winnable lol

planetside 2 controle over regions and base are winable and this victory as the exact same effect as winning in DUST514/EVE it make u harvest ressource from this very regions in PS2 its COMB like Regions that allow you to harvest ressource Same for dust

same impact same thing and also in dust those controle over planet can be claim by anyones at anytimes

exactly like PS2 if you suceed while atacking a base an outpost a regions the regions will stay yours until someones claim it and WIN it so all the time it remains yours it provide you ressource

Exact same thing as dust Same reward exept thats PS2 have more Military possibility because of the open wold aspect of it

I honestly really like EVE. I always want to get into it but I just never can find a direction in the game. I'll play for a few months then sit there in a station staring at my ship not knowing what to do next. Then I ultimately cancel.

That or a I join a 0.0 space corp, fly around in a gang looking for people to kill for 5 hours finding nobody, then stumbling upon a huge group that destroys my ship. Next thing I know I have nothing and cancel.

I know what you mean, Hamma. It takes a good corp with a defined goal and a lot of time for EVE to really pay off. I don't have either at the moment so I'm mostly training and logging in every now and then just to screw around.

It's one of those games where you really have to invest in order to see returns.

Great vid OP, I really like that fact that you guys are putting more quality vids of PS2 on Youtube and getting the newbs hyped up.

I'm always blown away at the number of PC gamers I talk to at work who've played every MMO out there and every FPS, yet never once tried Planetside. It's crazy.

Yeah there is not enough people who actually talk about our Planetside golden age When i start to play Xbox live the first one back in 2004 No ones in the all my friendlist have heard about planetside exept 1 who was like me thinking it was the futur of gaming having huge battles with tons of possibilitys etc.. So we were more on PC toguether playing planetside than on xbox with some of our friends lol

planetside 2 will be the next evolution its insane in Ps1 is was mostly 100 players in each empire at once And now it should be between 333 and 666 for each empire

thats insane and with pretty damned good graphics the cloud systhem thats create shadows the day and night cycles The gameplay seams pretty tight as well !

Hope people will get into it and will understand the potential of this game !

Honestly as a previous PS player and a current Eve pilot, I like them both. The Eve/Dust (and you really cant think of Dust as independent from the other) is a very ambitious project that, if everything goes right, will shape the MMO industry. Making everything more integrated. Because of that fact, Dust may outlive PS2 and I see Dust expanding to larger and larger fights as they develop.

Planetside/Planetside 2 is everything I imagine with FPS and grand combat. The people, the chaos, the crazyness, the expansive, seamless world (although Dust will have about 7000 planets with multiple zones on each planet). Tanks, Planes, Snipers OH MY!!

Which one will I be playing. Planetside 2. That's more my type of game. Also I don't own a PS3.

What I am hoping for in the future though, is PS and Dust coming together (both related to Sony after all) and having an epic fleet battle at the same time an epic ground pounding fest is going on the planet below.

I'm really sceptic about the 7000 planets things, really.

I sorta find it hilarious when people say that kinda stuff about EVE. The systems are nothing but black backgrounds with some randomized stuff in them.

I suppose the DUST planets will naturally need to have something abit more than a black background with a few warpgates, but it's pretty clear at this point that those 7000 planets won't be getting the handcrafted goodness we are getting with Planetside 2.

I havnt followed on DUSTs development so could be that this is sorta been clarified from the developer end too, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who tries to hype themselves with "zomg 7000 planets" will be disappointed with them, either cos they are totally randomized generic things or it's something totally else. I really wouldn't expect 7000 BF3-quality maps

I have a feeling you've never played Eve.

You are correct about being skeptical. I was too. That sounds incredibly, well "huge" for lack of a better term. However I recommend watching the CCP presentation "Seeding the Dust Universe" they had at their fanfest and how they are going to create all the planets. Btw, the 7000, which is CCP's number, is just the temperate planets. Not the lava/ice/barren planets. Those might come later. Their software and design is quite elegant actually and I was impressed. Even if your not going to play Dust514 (remember I'm not), it's actually quite interesting and fascinating on how they are going about it.

http://www.dust514.org/home/item/dus...g-the-universe

"Districts are hexagons on the planet and they are about 10 - 20 on a planet (pretty much 10-20 maps per planet, also remember there are over 7.000+ planets in EVE Universe to play on at launch and more later that will probably reach famous 60.000 number eventually)"

I will put in a caveat to CCP's claim though to mollify you. At release, only the high security areas of dust will be released, a fraction of the total planets available. They will be opening up more and more as the system and interaction is fine tuned. Also, the maps are 5KMx5KMx5KM and the sectors are NOT contiguous. So even though there are many many planets, you won't have a "planet feel" like you did/will in PS/PS2.

Dust 514 is undeniably doing more than PS2 is, PS2 is a great looking re-imagining of the first MMOFPS, but Dust 514 is breaking new ground in the entirety of the MMO genre.

I just hope that CCP decides to follow through with bringing Dust 514 to PC, they've hinted at it quite a bit, and of course there is KB&M support confirmed already. I can't help but think they're waiting to see what happens to PS2 before making a move on PC.

The best thing though is that they're both F2P so there isn't any need to choose between them.

Dust514 open an new way to play FPS but also games like nuclear dawn an another game i dont remeber quite much Was introducing a (( LEader roles in RTS style into an FPS game )) but when a single commander is BAD ur screw !

Dust can suffur from the same issue and also EVE players are experienced ((Traitors )) its really hard to trust those filthy EVE players iam talking from my own EVE experience lol SO Console gamers are not really patient they are pretty quick to rage quit a game thats do not fit their casuality !

So its a very tough decision they have made to try to connect console gamers with VERY HArdcore PC EVE players !

So dust will have RTS element and also a conection to a big universe but GAMEPLAY WISE planetside 2 offer a way more possibility on the tactical aspect of it ..

In planetside u can use the day or nigth time as a strategic elements u can also atack anywhere from any direction you are not limited thats much by the players counts so u can have a lots of aircraft troops transport etc..etc..

In dust you can have some of those elements but not the freedom of moovement maps in dust are mostly linear !

If Dust 514 took on the continent scale and persistence of Planetside 2 and was ported over to PC you might actually have something. The scale of EvE in terms of X,Y.Z explorable space is unmatched.
