That sounds very interesting. I would like the sight of it as well as the gameplay effect.

one question though: is "darklight" something specific? Don't know the term but I think you mean something like a floodlight.

I think this would be better in theory than in practice. I can't imagine anyone actually crewing a liberator and thinking that hovering around shining a light on the ground sounds more fun/useful than blowing enemies to pieces.

In Planetside 1, the darklight implant was an implant that people could toggle which reduced their vision to ~30 feet or so, but allowed them to see people wearing infiltration (cloaking) suits. So basically they're saying they want liberators (gunships) to be shining a light that detects people who are cloaked.

Also, giving cloakers the ability to have a beam weapon that instantly screws up the controls of the plane and disables its weapons would be cool.

What purpose would that serve?

What purpose would it serve to have some shrieker in a heavily armed and armored plane being able to hoverspam cloakers?

When are the pilots going to wake up to the fact that this game doesn't exist solely so they can rape AMS's, cloakers, and other relatively helpless targets.j Sometimes they are ace actually going to have to get in a fair fight.

Yeah, the AMS's. But the planes can hover, I was led to believe, which, to me, is not a positive.

They are VTOL, which isn't the same thing. SOE wants to be rid of the Reaver Turret from PS1.

Yeah, your thread got AmTraked. The spotlight sounds like a good idea, but won't really be all that useful as just an anti cloaker weapon. Maybe it should double as an electronic warfare weapon, like have the ability to disable vehicles and devices, sort of a vehicle stun and infantry disarm.

Thumbs up Re: Liberator - Darklight spotlight

This idea IS GODDAMN AWESOME.
I always liked taking on the support role in the battle field.
Another cool feature would be tagging spotted enemies, basically revealing the location of the spotted enemy to allies near the same base and tracking him for a short time, and the one to kill the enemy would get an exp bonus on that enemy (not counting kill made from the same plane).
Would be great to defend against cloakers.
Would also be nice if you could have one of those on top of a base and mount it, thus being able to reveal many of the enemies around the base (including vehicles).

No, radar farming was far too common in PS1. Any detection system should be directly related to the actions of a player whether from using detection equipment or just plain seeing them.

As an infiltraitor, I wouldn't mind dodging these dark light spotlights if I can see they are equipped on the lib. Would like to see a counter to this with a trek device to screw it up however. Something that works like a long distance jammer to emp the plane for 30 seconds so they can't use it, and maybe jam weapons.

These both would have to work at a relatively short range.

Only if the spot darklight can disable your suit as well. The infil suit is a counter to normal vision, darklight is a counter to infil suit. Being able to jam the darklight is fine, so long as it jams your suit when it sees you.
