I knew some great specialised thumper users in early ps1 . They were rare , skilled and there was team balance simply down to the limited cert tree then.
If they added it as a class , or even (similar to infiltrator ) add it to LA , but make it an option - the jet pack or the thumper I'd be happy with. Unfortunately the rise of spam in ps1 just brought another cockroach out of hiding ie maxcide . Maybe make the thumper a dedicated max melter or something . |

Maybe if they made the Thumper more like a modern Grenade Launcher, fires one shot, reloads, fires another shot, reloads.
Or they could make it like some of the Borderlands shotguns that have two shots. Fire once, second barrel fips into position, fire, reload. I could live with a thumper that had one/two shots per reload. Also: MAX units were the counter to Thumper/SA/Grenade/Mealstrom Spam. MAXs ARE good for something, you know. |

Agreed, just like anything . In moderation and balanced theres room for everything. Its when limitations and restrictions are removed so everyone has access to everything simply by going to a terminal it becomes befuddled and you end up with too much of one, which leads to too much of another and soon you you get stale gameplay. |

i agree with metalsheep, it should just have a limited fire rate/reload time. one to three shots per reload, generous reload time, limited ammo as well.
i dont want to see, or be the victim of, AOE spamming anymore than anyone else, but i think it should be in the game, not in the form that thumper is currently though. |
