I know there was already a thread about mostly the turning rate of the MAX's which I'm completly fine with how it was at E3 for it to keep up with fast strafing infantry. But I'm concerned a bit on the movement speed of the MAX. Looking at the E3 TB's Day 3 video showcasing a single Terran MAX, it just seems to move around way to quick. It switches between run and walk mode as fast as reloading a gun in Goldeneye. And its generally walking speed it fairly quick. It was running behind cover and around corners at the pace of a normal infantry.
I don't think the MAX should be able to switch between run and walk as fast as it can. In PS1 the MAX being a bulky Exo-suit unit you had to really think when you wanted to do something, it didn't have the reflexes of an infantry. Taking the risk of running means no shooting for a short time and could cost you. Now I know PS2 pace is much different and needs to match but I think they need to have more delay between switching Run and Walk mode. That and a slight reduced speed of walking. The MAX should still remain a somewhat difficult to handle bulky exo-suit that requires you to think about some of your movements like you have to with vehicles. It's not an infantry that can just run all willy nilly. But thats why we have a poll, let me know what you think. |

I was a bit concerned about MAX manoeuvrability, too. I thought to myself 'This is still heavily in development'. Maybe it'll change.
Momentum is probably what you're thinking of seeing MAXs have, I think, and I thoroughly agree. A slow build-up like before (in PlanetSide1) but a ground-breaking stomp to end this time round. However, this is the future so keep your mind open a little more. We have Nanites and invisibility in here already and that's more weird than ninja-MAXs, in my opinion. One particular other design concern is the Vanu MAX's animation. It walks like the other two and I totally expected like some slick fluency. Kind of sadfaced me...

Kinda like those moments were your in a lighting and turn a corner and see 2 vanguard pointing at you. You shouldn't be able to instnatly duck behind the nearest boulder, but rather as quickly as possible turn around and flee which may seem like forever or get blown up while returning fire. MAX's should work like mini vehicles in that regard. |

Right now they can sprint and don't have any form of "Fast Run" like they did in PlanetSide Original. So running/walking is similar to regular infantry (in the form of controls anyway)
That may change though. And as Jenny said their walk does not need to be any slower. |

This is a hard place for me, While a Sprint does seem epic, if I had to pick between The Max rush and Sprint, The Max rush win, it hard enough for max to get to point A to point B with rush, with out it I could see Max pop dropping A lot.
