Where does the community believe we are in the development cycle now?

I feel that we're not as far through as others seem to think, particularly because they haven't pinned down things like the HA weapons, and the various weapons customisations for almost every vehicle.

First platoon isn't a beta invite, it's a forum for outfit / clan and community leaders to interact and give feedback to the dev team. Beta hasn't started yet except for a few internal SOE teams. We will of course be starting beta small and expanding out once we can handle the load for each group, we'll be adding ps1 vets and priority beta key accounts first, as we've been pretty open about. Having read that a select few have been invited to the First Platoon, I think it's safe to assume more people will trickle into Beta in at least 2-6 weeks. Not a clue what they would be doing at the moment, probably tons of internal 'testing' (of skillz )... And naturally preparing the game and Beta client to be released for the bigger masses.

What exactly is First Platoon?

First Platoon is SOE's method of marketing their product by letting influential guild/clan leaders (i expect primarily from FPS clans) get a first in hands-on look at the game so far.

The idea is to both benefit from their vast experience with FPS games to fine tune certain aspects before beta as well as benefit from the additional word of mouth advertising that praise of the game from these few gaming comunity leaders will provide, prior to beta/release.

At least, that's my take on it.
