Exploding CDs?!


i saw this line in a review at cdfreaks concerning a burner ...

"Drive has an extra strong front bezel to protect from possible injury due to exploding discs"

did i miss a memo or sumfin? even i've never seen a CD explode.

It's possible. Mostly happens when CD has a big scrath or chip in it

true story:

my 1st WC3 CD, when I put it in, the entire top paint came off as a huge amount of powder! Destroyed the CD, and it was a bit of work to clean up too

**YES! WC3! Lets get it on!

10 sec later ...

*** AHHH!!! there is a cloud coming out of my cdrom!!!!! AHHHH!! My disk my disk!!!! NOOOO!!!

A couple years ago there were problems with microsft game cd's they would litterally explode from the high spin speed of newer drives that and the use of cheap plastics. ive seen it happen myself when I worked at radio shack it can do serious damage to a drive to .
