Voice Chat Echo Test

Does the voice chat echo test that's default binding is Keypad 8 actually work? I'm trying to get a new mic to work, and it's recording fine in other things, but I can't seem to get any response using the echo test. I've also shouted to the high heavens in the warp gate, but no one replied.

Any tips or ideas on how to get a headset working, or should I just chalk it up to being a beta?

I'm having the same problem with turtle beach x12's. I know I can be heard in game but I can't hear anyone else.

I don't think that the echo test works. Been playing since Closed Beta and I've never even seen the point. But if your mic isn't working.. Here's the 3 things I've found are most likely to blame.

If your mic is a little "fancy" (or perhaps just odd ) then you might need to make sure any necessary drivers are installed. Sometimes they aren't necessary for the functionality but some corporate bigwig decided to make the mic completely useless without a program with it's name on it making it tick. Imagine DRM for hardware. :rage:

I assume you're using some form of Windows, due to this being a rather WINE-incompatible game and nobody short of A/V junkies uses Mac's. In that case.. Make sure that in the "Recording" tab of the Sound window, your mic is working.

If those don't work.. Simply go to the Voice tab in-game and make sure that your mic is the default Input device for Voice Chat, and that your Transmit Volume is set to 50. 50 is adequate for most pick-up and play mics, but you might need to fiddle a little based on what some people say.

Hope it helps!
Cheers
